Flying at 30 weeks

Has anyone flown abroad at 30 weeks pregnant? I'm expecting my third and have a trip booked when I will be around 30 weeks and returning at 32 weeks.

I did although only to Berlin, you'll probably need a foot to fly note from your GP / midwife and double check your airlines limits on gestation

I think the advised gestation not to fly after is 34/36 weeks, as long as you're healthy and have no history of high blood pressure, DVT or other conditions.

Probably worth checking the policy of the airline you are flying with and get a fit to fly note from your doctor just to cover yourself, also ensure you have insurance that would cover you and baby if you go into labour early.

You’ll need a fit to fly note and some cast iron insurance. Expect to show your note at every check point, gate, security check etc and have it scrutinised.

I’d do a short haul but having done long haul at 26ish weeks I don’t know that I’d do that again.

The actual flying is fine if you get a fit note (which you probably have to do with an online company and pay for) but good luck getting decent insurance - I gave up as all said birth at 32 weeks was normal and I didn’t feel comfortable with the thought of potential neonatal care, unexpectedly long accommodation bill for partner, medical repatriation etc.

I'd focus on making sure insurance would cover everything associated with a premature birth, and consider that you'd have to stay out there for a long time if that did happen.
