Aspirin in pregnancy

Daughter's expecting my 2nd grandchild .
1st grandchild born at 36 weeks due to stopping growing.
Mum then haemorrhaged at birth and needed transfusions etc.

So first appointment with midwife, daughter tells me she's been put on aspirin.
This was due to the fact that baby #1 had stopped growing.
This was due she knows now , the placenta was degrading (came out in pieces)
I know it's a low dose but it's worried me.

Daughter has already bleed in this pregnancy, a scan showed blood around the womb. She thought she had miscarriaged.
She is anemic and on ferrous sulphate. Had iron infusions in the past.

So basically is it safe?
I'm going with her to the consultation next week.

Lots of people use asprin in pregnancy. it is a low dose and very safe. the bleeding is unlikely to be related.

Been on asprin since 4 weeks in this pregnancy and 12 weeks in my first. Also severely aenemic and on iron tablets even when not pregnant.

It helps increase the blood flow to and from the placenta to reduce the risk of miscariage or the placenta degrading.

Good luck with your new grandbaby

I have high blood pressure and will be on aspirin from 12 weeks... I think it's very normal and a very low dose

Very safe and very common. I took aspirin during both my pregnancies. The benenfit of taking it out weighed the worry of not taking it. I was also taking ferrous sulphate tablets too.

Its actually very safe and low dose.

It reduces risk of preeclampsia without causing maternal bleeding and without causing adverse fetal affects.

I took from 12 weeks until the start of the third trimester because I was advised to by an obstetrician even though my GP worked out I was at very low risk.

I did end up taking iron tablets as well, however lots of women end up anaemic during pregnancy whether they suffer from anaemia when not pregnant. (I generally end up anaemic when not pregnant like I am now.)
