Hi,

Im 11w and for the past few weeks - there have been a couple of occasions where between breakfast and lunch I feel so starving then my hand feel shakey. I had my gestational diabetes test two weeks ago which came back fine.

I've tried to contact my Midwife who has not called me back, and the GP had no appointments. I was wondering if anyone else had felt the same?

Hi
why don’t you eat more? You will need to ensure your blood sugars aren’t dropping. I had to snack constantly during the first trimester

It sounds like you need to eat more. Diabetes would (very usually) cause your sugars to be high rather than low.
You are growing a whole new person, eat what you need to

I get this before I was pregnant but had it a couple of times while pregnant, I always just make sure I eat something when I get this feeling and it always works. As PP said you're growing a human so snack when you need.

I've had this as long as I can remember with no explanation, tests always normal. But it definitely got worse in pregnancy. I don't think I was eating enough or often enough. So carry snacks, eat smaller meals more often that kind of thing. That should help

Sounds like you might need to add a protein bar or shake (if you can keep it down) just to get you through. Let your midwife know at your appt.

I found eating an apple or orange helps with this I think it's the sugar. Or maybe a glass of orange juice etc

UnravellingTheWorld · 09/07/2024 13:46

Yes, my blood sugar drops very quickly when I'm pregnant.

Eat more. Snack often.

My midwife in my 1st pregnancy told me I didn't need to eat much more than normal, and I wish I had ignored her advice sooner. I did need to eat more than normal (stupidly small appetite) and I felt a whole lot better when I finally started eating ridiculous amounts.

Thank you all :)

I will try adding in morning/afternoon snacks and hopefully that will help! I think its so easy to forget to eat more, but it really just hits me all at once now.
