How easy is labour third time around?

My first son was born after 9 hours of pain and over one hour of pushing. Our second was born after 1 hour of pain and 10 mins of pushing. Is this a trend and can I expect a really quick labour this time? I can't help feeling it will not be that easy.

I only have 1 DS but my mum had me 21 years ago, then my brother 13 years ago and finally my twin sisters 2 years ago and she said that every time she thought what have I put myself through this time! According to her it is'nt any easier the last time than the first BUT on the bright side she did say that her labours have got quicker with me being the longest at 6 hours start to finish and the twins were both born within 3 hours of contractions! Hope this helps abit...

I have 3 and it DID GET EASIER EVERY TIME!!. Its a trend!.. believe and it will be true! I didn't have fainting exp with me on no. 3 and also used loads of yoga (breathing etc) and was at home. 3 crucial differences! But hey, when it gets to no. 3 its like (Ugh!) shelling peas Good Luck! Being a Mum of three you'll need it.. more once its out!

I am interested in the answer to this as well. My mother had 3 children and often refered to it as being like shelling peas by number 3, however, the midwife says 3rd babies can be a bit tricky and that she wouldn't take bets.

My first labour was 11 1/2 hours, second was 1hr 29 minutes. I am obviously a little worried that this baby may try and arrive so quickly I have no time to get to hospital.

Am hoping this is the case - as my DC3 is due in a few weeks.

I did find the second easier as I knew what to expect pain-wise, and how much worse it was likely to get before it got better - not having a clue was the worst thing about first time!

Am sincerely hoping that this one will benefit from my body knowing what to do..... (hopeful smiley!)

Thanks for that MamaG, as I have year round allergies, it seems that the tucking the trousers into socks routine might be just the job when I sneeze baby out, lol!

I think the thing with subsequent labour/deliveries is that you know what to expect and if you have belief in yourself and your ability to have your baby fairly quickly and realtively pain free, you can make it happen. Mind you, it's been a little longer between baby's this time, so I hope it's like riding a bike, once learned never forgotten!

All my 3 were different, though no 3 was quicker, only the last hour was really tough. It was my only natural one too, first was induced, second one started off well but just stopped and I went on a drip, third one waters broke, nothing happened only faint contractions for 20hrs, then 5 hours labour, to 5cm dilated, then 1 hour until DD3 was born.
Don't know if this is any help, just thought I would share!

My third labour was hardest, but recovery quickest. Your body certainly knows what to do by no.3 though. My first was 7 hours, second 3 hours, 3rd 3 hours officially but had 12 hours of non-productive contractions prior to that. I also had contractions each week 4 weeks prior to delivery, and I'm pretty certain baby was back to back right up until about half hour before birth (I had a contraction across the middle of my tummy, whereas others were very low down, and mw said that is probably the baby turning) which would explain why I felt all the preparation contractions for 12 hours. After I had no.3 I felt fantastic, didn't feel like I'd even given birth within an hour!
