O2 climb in 1st trimester

Hi, hoping for some advice please. I'm very early pregnancy and I'm booked to do the O2 climb next weekend by which point (fingers crossed) I'll be 8 weeks. Their website just states that it's not suitable for pregnant women but doesn't say why. OH seems to think it will be fine but I'm not so sure. What do people think? Physically I feel fine just a little tired but I did some hill walking this weekend which was fine. I'm not sure if there's a reason they advise against it e.g. is it physically challenging or dangerous or is it the harness itself or is it just for insurance purposes? Has anyone got any experience? No judgement please, its our first time and it was booked before I found out. Many thanks

You'll be fine. 8 weeks is very early. It's not physically challenging I suspect the website means visibly pregnant perhaps. Enjoy!

I expect it’s insurance related rather than actually being unsuitable. They may make you sign a waiver which could include that you’re not pregnant. In case something happened and you tried to blame them for it

Thank you both, that's reassuring! I feel like it will be fine and it doesn't look that difficult but obviously just don't want to take any risks at this early stage! Thanks 😊

You'll be fine. A lot about pregnancy is so variable and you'll have to judge what you can do for yourself. Generally avoid anything that could end in a fall though. I was fit before pregnancy but it really took it out of me and I couldn't do much. Don't be too harsh on yourself if you're tired or can't do something but some of the recommendations are patronizing and annoying.

I had a security guard at a 5 star hotel physically stop me from going into a warm-ish pool (not even a hot tub, but a warm pool with mild jets) at a spa. There was a sign that said pregnant women should use care and check with their doctor before using. This made him think he had a right to be rude and physically stop me from going in. At 30 weeks I have become VERY ballsy and poor man never stood a chance against me. He got a real mouthful and I swear he made me so angry I would have taken him on if given the chance. The pool was lovely and really helped my back so it was a proud day lol.

Babyfedup thank you so much! It is so confusing as there seems to be so many mixed messages out there!

Absolutely go for it if you're feeling good. I climbed Snowdonia with DP while 3 months pregnant with DS, and aside from needing more breaks, it was great.

Now 3 years later and preggo with #2, I'm much more tired and wouldn't have felt up to it in my first trimester, but honestly I'd do it now in the 2nd trimester. The only thing holding us back is DS2, who would need to be carried 99% of the way up and he's heavy!

It's to do with harnesses, insurance and potential fall. Reality is though your not launching off the side of the thing and the harness only impacts against you if jumping off/abseiling (and actuallyits from the back of a harness not the front). As long as their isn't any of this then you will be fine.
