Successful VBAC stories please?

Currently 24 weeks with my 2nd DC.

Had an awful experience with my first. Was induced due to going over due date, got to full dilation after many horrendous hours on the drip only to have to have an emergency section as DS was breech. It could have been worse and I know there are many women who’ve had it much worse! But I was really shell shocked by the whole birth and suffered quite severe PND after which I had medication for. I couldn’t even talk about the birth for nearly a year after without sobbing and the first months of my DSs life was just a gloomy blur.

I really want to avoid another section as I didn’t spring back from the last one (like the majority of my friends seemed to). I couldn’t even go up or down stairs for the first three weeks. I’m worried about not being able to look after my DS properly as I don’t have much help at home and live far from my family. Has anyone got any positive VBAC stories that will make me feel better please?

I had two vbac. But first was an elective cs. My first vbac was long but okay - I accepted all pain relief going. The third was very very fast.
But my elective also had a much better recovery than a long trial of Labour followed by a cs would have.

2 here. Both fine. 1st about 6 hour labour and epidural. 2nd about 5 hours and water birth plus gas and air. Stitches for both and i chose 2 sessions of pelvic floor therapy after 2nd to help manage slight prolapse. (I had 2 massive babies though!). Hope it goes well x

My first was similar - overdue by 2 weeks so induced, then ended up with emergency CS as turned out he was breech. Recovery was OK- just a minor infection around stitches, but caught it and got treated. I didn't suffer any PND after (thankfully). My 2nd was 2 1/4 yrs later, was exactly on his due date. Started contractions at about 2pm and had him naturally (with gas and air) at about 12.30 am. Had to have a few stitches, but no other problems. Was home by 4.30 pm that day, and the recovery was OK. Am an older mum too - first at 37, second at 40 - not sure if that made any difference.

I don't generally tell people about my birth. Went into labour at 36+6, only had an hour or two when I really knew about it, and she was out! Gas and air only...

What I would say is that the recovery was still not entirely simple. I tore and also had to have an episiotomy, as my baby was struggling, despite the short labour. I still felt very much in pain and fragile after. Being stiched up when you just want to curl up in a ball and be left alone is also no fun.

It was almost too quick as well. I just felt totally shell shocked when they held my daughter. I'd not had time to get used to the idea she was on her way!

I guess what I am trying to say is that even an easy and non-traumatic birth isn't a walk in the park. You can't control birth, just try to make the best of what does happen.

I’ve just had a successful vbac in July.
first was ECS 4 years ago.
I spent my pregnancy working on staying active, hydrated, positive.
I had my VBac at a birth centre. My waters broke at 5.30pm after a very busy day. I was 40 +3 weeks.
contractions started about half an hour after. They were always 2 mins apart but went from cramps to full on contractions.
midwife checked me at home once they were intense and couldn’t talk through them. I was 5 cm. Went up to birth centre. Moaning through contractions in the car very loudly haha then got on the gas and air once at birth centre.
I had a fair few strong contractions in various places in the birth centre room waiting for the pool to fill. Got in pool and got into the position I practiced in with my Annibal balloon thing.
then I said goodbye to my bits as I knew them and she came out with me roaring!
was fantastic and I’d do it all again if I could.
good luck with your Vbac. Stay strong. Do your research. Stay positive. You can do it. 💪

(she came 5 hours after waters Breaking, I was home few hours later, few stitches, eating toast on my couch)

1st I was induced and wasn't the easiest but 2nd was a humongous baby (11lb) water birth and only gas and air. I had private hypnobirthing sessions before the birth of my second and it's all about positive mindset for birth. Each session ended by watching a video of a positive birth. It helped immensely as I really was terrified in the lead up to it.
