Pregnancy Insomnia!

I just can't sleep, 30 weeks pregnant and it's driving my absolutely crazy. Doesn't help that my husband has really annoying snores and if he falls asleep before me it's pretty much certain I will be awake for hours. I need help because it's getting me so wound up and agitated, I work full time and have a toddler to get up and out in the mornings and run around after work before husband gets home in time for her bedtime.

Any tips, or just support of people in the same boat.

My GP offered Melatonin, it's like a natural hormone. But my OB offered a medicine for nausea and morning sickness that as a side effect makes you sleepy. She said is totally safe.

Oh Op the pregnancy insomnia is awful. I had it throughout my pregnancy and just as I started to sleep a bit more (between 35 and 38 weeks) I was up throughout the night with raging heartburn. The one and only decent sleep I had was 38 weeks pregnant, got up to pee in the middle of the night and my waters went and labour professed thick and fast. I sympathise! I had a wonderful delivery though and a healthy baby, but that insomnia was killer!

Also sending sympathy. I've had this with both kids, it's so cruel if the buggy to do it!
Make sure your DH does morning wakes with toddler at weekend (if possible) to give you a chance to sleep.

You need to kick DH out to the sofa. You're pregnant, you need to sleep and pregnancy insomnia is hard enough, this is no time for him to be selfish.

Piriton (an antihistamine) knocks me put so you could use that as a sleep aid occasionally BUT it makes me super drowsy for the next day too so it's not mega useful.

That's probably the anti-histamine combined with a B vitamin. Can't remember the name. It's reassuring because they are both decades old.

Vitamin B6 & doxylamine. Doxylamine is a first generation Anti-histamine. So 75 years of safety data.

We always buy it in France when we're there (brand name Domoryl, I think) but it's available here if you want to look into it.

Omg i had it second time round i was walking round like zombie for months, i was on phanagran thinks what it was called till 20 weeks but then i had to go cold turkey and i just got uses to surviving on no sleep. I did buy some magnisum cream rubbed it all over and ot deffinently worked abit.

I sympathise.

I am only 16 weeks but it's getting to me. Also have a snoring DH so understand the sleeping before them part!

I have it that I can most likely fall asleep but I'm either up and down all night, or wide awake at 4/5am and can't get back to sleep no matter how heavy my eyes feel.

Early bed, or naps while DC are in bed or napping has helped but in all honestly just surviving.

Its very cruel thing to have when we already need more sleep and aren't allowed too much caffeine, oh and have kids 😂

Oh, not drinking too much in the hours leading up to bed has helped a little bit, and no snacking a hour or so before either. Audio books help drown out DH sleep apnea snoring, and help hush my brain as it likes to run wild while I can't sleep.
