I am 15+4 and I find myself constantly fretting that there is a problem. Is anyone else like this? I have had my first scan, i have heard the heart beat, i have had a clear triple test but i just still worry.

I've got my first GP appointment this afternoon.

I was like that with both my pregnancies, and usually I'm very laid back not a worrier at all.

But with pregnancy I just never seemed to beleive it would be alright. I wanted scans at least every other day.

I'd say try to reduce your anxiety by thinking asbout the realistic statistics/probabilities, but when you are very abxious just go to your bidwife and get a check.

I was forever at the hospital being put ona monitor becuse I hadn't felkt the baby move. I was obviously just a bit neurotic but they were always very nice and understanding sabout it.

Constantly. Every day I convince myself something is wrong. Crazy xxxx

KJ11 · 10/04/2008 13:53

its not just me then - i thought that the other day if I could have a weekly scan i'd be fine - then probably i still wouldn't be!

its so silly really isn't it!

KJ11 - I'm exactly the same I'm 19+5 today and have my anomoly scan a week monday and petrified that something will be wrong. But then I have been petrified that something is wrong since day one of finding out. I think it must be something to do with not being in control at all we just have to wait and see what happens. Positive thoughts being sent your way

missnatalie · 10/04/2008 16:01

I was exactly the same. Was convinced that something was going to go wrong even up until the last minute when i was pushing him out!!
The worrying doesnt stop once baby is out either (or at least it hasnt for me). Im constantly feeling his chest when hes asleep to make sure he's still breathing!!

I am in a bad way at the moment. Only 8 weeks. But had mmc in Nov, so .....

I know just what you mean, but I found it got a lot easier when you could feel the baby moving. I'm assuming you can't feel it yet as it's too early? I think I started to feel it for definite around 19 or 20 weeks and it is incredibly reassuring to know what the LO is up to and that all the kicks mean he / she is happy and healthy. But people keep telling me I am going to be worrying now for the rest of my life, so maybe we should just get used to it!

KJ11 · 11/04/2008 09:37

Thanks everyone for your reassuring words, I guess its just something that we'll get used to, and I agree - I think its because we have no control!

Oblomov - my fingers are doubly crossed for you.... are you having a scan soon?

You are definately not alone there. Dw is 26+6, I seem to be carrying the anxiety for us both. I do feel much better when she tells me every day that widget has moved and movements getting stronger.
This is totally normal, psychoanalyst Donald Winnicott talked of 'keeping your child in mind' as being the natural maternal instinct, all we are doing is being natural parents.
