It's your baby shower OP, make it specific people.

The only children who have been at any baby showers I have attended have been babies under about 6 months who couldn’t be left. So I think that’s fine!

I’ve only been to a few baby showers but there’s never been kids there, maybe one or two small babies. Your decision!

I’m not having kids at mine only my kids will be there it’s a adult party so no I think your in the right

YouBoggleMyMind · 03/07/2024 09:46

Just say it's an adults only baby shower.

I've never seen kids at one. Obviously if your Mum doesn't have anyone to look after your brother she may not be able to attend. But I wouldn't have expected my DC to be invited.

Kids dont usually attend baby showers anyway, but if it is short notice you might find some people can't come. Does your mum have someone who can care for your half brother?

AnneLovesGilbert · 03/07/2024 09:58

Can your mum come if she has to leave your brother at home? If not would you rather they were both there or she missed it?

It’s normal to take kids to showers with people I know and one which was child free turned into an almighty family feud which hasn’t healed and that baby is starting secondary this year.

No kids at a party to celebrate a new baby is a bit like no spouses at a wedding which celebrates a marriage, seems a bit mean spirited to me. But if you often feel overlooked as your mum has to focus on your brother I can understand wanting to be her priority for once, if it’s possible.
