City break at 28w

First time poster :) TIA

I had pencilled in a city break trip with my best friend for August but I now know I will be 28w pregnant.

Will a potentially hot city break (on my feet with a bus trip to Auschwitz) be too much at 28w pregnant? I’m worried I won’t be able to say to my friend I need to sit down/skip something/go for a nap. I feel great at 22w now. I also worry I’ll be excessively emotional for such an intense tour.

I am travelling for a wedding at 33w and comfortable with that as it will be chilled, with my husband and we’re staying on site so I can rest if I need to - so it’s not the flying I’m concerned with.

Please help me understand what issues I might face so I can have a discussion with my friend and validate why I may need to let her down (or do a different kind of trip instead).

I'm 27 weeks and I feel like personally I could manage a city break but it would need to be with someone that understood I might get tired and want to sit down more often. Is there a reason why you think you wouldn't be able to say that to your friend? Would she rather you not go than that you to and take it relatively easy? If it's going to be hot weather she might appreciate taking a break in the hottest part of the day anyway, then the two of you can chill at lunc

I’d speak to your friend and ask their preference- I don’t know why you think you can’t say if you want to sit down. Just tell your friend that if the trip goes ahead you’ll have to honest about how youre feeling, and you might need to take it slowly. Also do check, you can get travel insurance for your trip at 33 weeks, I know a lot of insurers won’t cover you after 32 weeks due to higher likelihood of a premature birth.

... Sorry, posted early

At lunchtime and split the day into two bits. But if you don't think she'd or you would enjoy it with more frequent rest stops then that's different. Or is it more that you've already decided you're not up for it (valid!) and just want to be able to explain to her why not?

I’m approaching 29 weeks and I know now that I could have done it. I decided not to schedule a final pre baby trip for around this time and I slightly regret it because I’m feeling fine, but it’s hard to know in advance.
Agree that your friend should be understanding if you need to sit down at some point or take it easy?

I’d go for it but then I had one at 37 weeks (it was ok other than it was a bit too long in the car). Talk to your friend and tell her you might not be up for long walks. Not been to Auschwitz but we did visit Sachsenhausen and you could walk a lot.

I think she would be understanding and we have a great relationship but I am conscious she is single and older and would love to be in the position of having a baby so I don’t want to take away from her experience of travelling or be insensitive by ‘going on about pregnancy’. I’m certain I’m over thinking it and the responses are really helpful, thank you all 🤗

I think the other side of that is that sometimes if you're one of the few childless people in your friendship group it's easy to feel like your friendship is less important to people, so if you cancelled now because of your pregnancy then she might worry that it's a sign of how the friendship will go in future (which it sounds like isn't at all what you want). That's not to say that you shouldn't proceed based on how you're feeling in yourself and if you're not up to it of course don't go, but I wouldn't not go just to spare her feelings about potentially seeing you pregnant or acknowledging the pregnancy (because it might easily have the opposite effect). I'm sure you'll have a great time together and in future you'll probably value friends that don't only want to talk about baby things!
