I'm 40 weeks plus 8 days and due to be induced on Monday evening, and tomorrow is my last day of solitary leave (DH at work and DS at nursery - woo hoo!) It feels like a real bonus day, as I had thought the bump might have landed by now, so I'm not sure how to make the most of it - just interested in peoples ideas - what would you do with a whole free day?? I can't see me having a whole day to myself again for - oh, about 10 years.

(I bet that I'll get lots of great ideas, and the baby will come tonight....)

Go and have a pedicure and manicure or facial. Something for yourself that you won't have time for after monday!

VeraSquonkTheBeerGuru · 10/04/2008 08:59

and get your hair done too

A peaceful lunch out and cinema!

Check your local spas - some do mum to be packages which are fab. Dh bought me one before dc4. Even went in a floation tank which was heaven.

Cinema is a great idea - I hadn't really thought of that, but I love the cinema and DH hates it, so we never 'waste' (his words) our babysitting time on it. I've done the haircut thing (although I'm so overdue that it probably needs doing again!)but I'm going to look into a pedicure - it would be good to have the most glamorous tootsies on the labour ward.......

sleep......

Definitely pampering - I had a pedicure which was lovely as I hadn't been able to get to my feet in a while! And work brought me a mum to be massage which was also really lovely because it was done on huge cushions on the floor. Anything spa like I think. And a lovely lunch with some magazines.

Enjoy your day.

Crikey, at that stage in my pregnancy I was like a beached whale and could barely manage to have breakfast, a bath and get dressed in the morning before collapsing into bed for a rest

Sketchi · 10/04/2008 10:23

Please please just go and do anything...however seldom and boring it may seem to people without children. Do something that you can't do with kids around.

Today was the first day since DD was born 16 months ago that I had house to myself as booked day off work and everything, but DD decided to be ill! No nursery today then.

Good luck with whatever you decide and remember how jealous we all are of you...you lucky lucky thing! x

do not go for a nice walk or to a cafe, you will be spending months shoving the pram round town this summer and will be bored o fthem al v soon.

GColdtimer · 10/04/2008 10:52

That is so true MrsB, dd was born this time of year and it felt like it was ALL I did.

So, having planned all these great things, went for my routine MW visit, had 'raised blood pressure', spent 4 tedious hours in the hospital (everything fine including bl**dy blood pressure) and now DS is home from nursery with a fever and DH on his way home from work with tonsillitis......

Ho hum. Maybe next time??
