Trying to conceive

Hi everyone, going to try keep this as short as I can. I’ve got 2 children ages 5 and 6, I conceived both of those very quickly with no issues. I had the copper iud fitted when my youngest was 1, and had it taken out 7 months ago as my partner and I decided we wanted to try for our last baby. However.. in the last couple years my period has been very strange, I have one every month so I assume it’s classed as ‘regular’ however the bleeding can be very unpredictable, spotting for up to a week before and a week after my period. Periods being very light one month and very heavy the next. I’ve also noticed strange hair growth on my face so went to the doctors but they said even if it were pcos, something to do with hormones etc it wouldn’t affect my ability to conceive due to having regular periods so im so confused as to how after 7 month of trying everything nothing has happened. Im so sorry if this comes across as insensitive to anyone as i know im extremely lucky to have 2 healthy children and 7 month is nothing compared to couples that try for years, so i feel selfish even writing this. I just can’t help the way i feel and feel disheartened. Has anyone dealt with anything similar?

Hi,
sorry if this is obvious but have you used an ovulation tracker? I used the Mira one and conceived the first month of using it after trying for 6 months. I thought I knew when I was ovulating by tracking my cycle but clearly I was wrong. With the Mira you pee on a stick and it tells you the exact days you need to be having sex

Hi, I’ve been tracking my ovulation using an app on my phone but I’m starting to question if it’s accurate. I’ll definitely give this a go, thank you so much

Hey,

I have PCOS, although was diagnosed in late teens so have known for around 10 years. I have never used contraception as have my own views there ! Me and my partner started to try conceive around 3 years ago and like you I was having no luck ! I was having my period every month aswell, although not exact but didn’t ever miss a month. I did a lot of research and seen metformin is sometimes prescribed to help you ovulate ( it also helps you loose weight ) I was not over weight so was closely monitored. After 3 years of nothing .. I have 5 miscarriages in a row, after further research I had to fight for progesterone and now have my healthy beautiful baby girl.

it is so tough ! You know your own body though so I say get researching and go to the GP with your findings and the support you would like ( sometimes you need to tell them what you need ) if you fell pregnant very easily before and have noticed changes then you know yourself something is a miss, don’t let them tell you 7months is not long enough. Keep going, hoping you get your beautiful new bundle of joy soon 🫶🏽

I’m definitely going to push for things to be investigated further, it really is so frustrating when you know yourself somethings not right but doctors are too quick to brush it off as nothing. Thank you so much for your reply, fingers crossed :)
