Blood Thinning Injections - Advice

AimeeLou84 · 26/06/2024 18:43

Hi All. I’ve been injecting blood thinners into my stomach for the last 6 weeks and I’ve just noticed there’s a lump under my skin where I inject and it hurts to touch - is this normal? I have a monitoring appointment Friday so I’ll ask then but of course now I’m panicking! Thanks

Yeah they can cause a lump under the skin, rotating the site where you inject can help avoid this

Heparin / enoxaparin? This has been my life for 5 months and is now my mastermind subject 😃

Little lumps are apparently normal although I haven’t had them. Are you rotating site every time? Injecting incredibly slowly at 90 degrees to your skin? Keeping the needle inside you for at least 5 seconds after you’ve emptied the whole syringe?

Fragmin injections. They didn’t show me how to do them or tell me just sent me on my way. I had to you tube it! I only inject in one side of my stomach, same ish area but different spots as I have no skin to pinch anywhere else. I can’t do my thighs as I’m injecting insulin there and they are bruised to pieces. I pinch then inject straight in then take the needle out once emptied and push down to stop bruising. Clearly not doing it right so I’ll try your method above. Thank you!!!

I'm on clexane injections daily, I have a small hardened part on the most recent injection site each day. It seems to ease though thankfully.

Covered in bruising, even though I inject slowly etc. I just keep rotating around my stomach 😆

It’s so horrible isn’t it. I can’t wait to stop this. My stomach is bruised and lumpy and my thighs are so bruised from insulin injections 😩 Apparently I need to continue this up until 6 weeks after I’ve given birth

Yes I had to inject fragmin from 26 weeks right up til 6 weeks after birth and honestly it was the worst thing ever 😫 I had constant bruised and lumpy tummy and it hurt so bad! I feel your pain

Olika · 26/06/2024 20:51

I got tons of those lumps as I had to inject beforehand and afterwards. I got told to inject on alternative sides each day so that's what I did.

Yeah it's so sore, I remember doing clexane for 6 weeks after a c section but can't remember it being so painful.

Are you finding different parts of your stomach are harder to inject into? It's like a Russian roulette lol

Yes that’s the issue I can barely pinch any skin to inject and the baby is always one side so I really don’t want to go near her 😩
