Driving test pregnant

What does dvla consider heavily pregnant?

I've booked a driving test and I will be 20 weeks pregnant at the time of the test.

The booking system says "heavily pregnant", do I click this box or not?

20 weeks is not heavily pregnant. It’d either be third trimester or maybe earlier if it was a multiples pregnancy.

Would they even notice at 20 weeks sorting in a car seat? Def not heavily pregnant

Springadorable · 25/06/2024 21:54

I'd say about 35 weeks was heavily pregnant.

WellExactly2 · 25/06/2024 22:33

I was 38 weeks, I'm not sure why they bother asking as it makes no difference to the test or the process.

I would class heavily as anything past 30 weeks I think

20 weeks isnt heavily pregnant, I'd say 30 weeks plus is. However I sat my test at 18 weeks pregnant (with my 2nd) and was obviously pregnant. I was measuring big.

I am noticeably big but I've still been able to drive but do I have a legal obligation to inform the testers? They don't make it clear on the website?

Honestly 20 weeks is no where near heavily pregnant so if that is the only box about pregnancy then don’t tick it or do anything else. I can’t see why being 20 weeks would affect the test in any way or why you’d have to tell them in advance.

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 26/06/2024 06:37

If you have to inform them if you are heavily pregnant and you are 20 weeks at the time of the test then no you don’t need to inform them as you will not be heavily pregnant

Flowers9 · 26/06/2024 21:21

Thank you.

I know 20 weeks isn't classed as heavily pregnant.

My concern was if I legally have to declare I am pregnant to the DVlA as some places require this.

I took my test at 39 weeks pregnant. They just asked me if I was comfortable to carry out an emergency stop. My instructor told me they have to ask in case you need to do one in an actual emergency but will not ask you to as part of the test.

They did say if I said no they would not allow me to do the test (for obvious safety reasons) so thought it worth sharing.

Welshcake15 · 27/06/2024 23:36

I was 30 weeks passing my test. The only difference was the examiner decided not to ask me to demonstrate an emergency stop and instead talk them through how to do one. You'll be fine!
