Baby Measuring Big

Hi, just looking to see if anyone is / has been in a similar position. First pregnancy and was told at 30 weeks pregnant that baby was measuring big, went for a growth scan and they said baby was already 4 pound 8oz and on the 99th percentile. They arranged another scan for 37 weeks which is in 2 weeks and seeing the consultant the following week for an online appointment. Had a midwife appointment a few days ago who said that baby is big but she didn’t seem too concerned. Just wondering if anyone has been through this and likelihood of early induction?

Hey OP. My baby is measuring big, 7.2lb at 36 week scan. I’m 36+4 tomorrow. I think mine is down to my gestational diabetes though. I’ve got a consultant appointment tomorrow to discuss induction at 38 weeks or c section at 38/39 weeks x

@lr9421 if you haven't already you will possibly be tested for gestational diabetes. If you have no other risk factors they shouldn't offer an induction or C-section according to current guidelines.

I had a big baby. I was consultant lead due to bmi and age so had monthly growth scans. I was offered an induction at 38 weeks or csection at 39 weeks (or do nothing and see).
They worried about shoulder dystocia. I chose elective section.
Baby was born almost 10lb as they predicted.

Exactly why I’m opting for c section as they mentioned the shoulder thing and it’s proper scared me. Also consultant led due to age and bmi. How long was c section recovery if you don’t mind me asking please? X

Similar to @BabyMomma2021 here!

Baby was predicted large in growth scan at 37 weeks, I was offered induction at 38 weeks, elective c section at 39 weeks, or wait and see.

I went for elective c section, baby was 9lb so smaller than they estimated but still big. I enjoyed my birth experience and found recovery much smoother than i anticipated.

Hi @AimeeLou84 yeah I was scared too and though I'd rather have a section if it meant the baby didn't get hurt in any way.
Csection itself was great, really calm and went well.
Recovery was also straightforward. Was about a week and a half on painkillers and after that was manageable without. Just look it slow and relished the help! I would say things we're uncomfortable rather than painful, particularly getting up out of bed as you have no core strength! I also had a pico dressing which was so good on my scar which is basically invisible.

I had a bad and was induced at 37.5 weeks due to DD measuring big. She was born 8lb11oz so would have been on track for 10ish pounds at 40 weeks.

Nice easy induction, very short labour once it got going and vaginal delivery with a bit of gas n air for the last bit.

'I had a bad' should say 'I had GD'
