Fluctuating size in early scans

Looking for some similar stories and for people to tell me not to worry!

Currently 10 weeks pregnant and I've been having a few early scans due to two missed miscarriages and thankfully all is okay but I'm wondering if this is normal.

In my first two early scans I was measuring 1/2 days ahead which lined up with ovulation. But today I'm suddenly 5 days ahead?? I'm not sure if this can be concerning or not? He checked the length a few times as obviously it was on the larger side. I also have a subchorionic hematoma which he said was small but has suddenly jumped up in size since he did my first scan?

I'm wondering if maybe his measuring was off today, or whether I should worry about the sudden jump in size? Thanks all - there's always something to worry about after loss!

Congratulations!
My DDs are teens now so this info may be stale. A proper radiographer may come along and clarify, but my experience is that scans are not very good for dating or determining actual size of the baby.
Scans are excellent for making sure that baby is healthy physically - can see organs developing and help diagnose serious defects.

Because my DH was away at certain times, I knew exactly when my DD1 was conceived but the scans said otherwise and all the medics would only accept the date the scan calculated. I knew it was wrong because my DH had been several counties away for a few days on either side of the date the scan calculated.

Some GPs and/or midwives used to use a tape measure gauge - your bump should be the same no. cms vertically as weeks. But that is not v. accurate either.

In a good way, 10weeks is v. early days so try not to worry - easier said than done, I know.

@tarheelbaby thank you, I know it's likely everything will be fine but there's always that lingering doubt.

In my last miscarriage I measured 2 weeks behind which I suppose is more out of the norm. Hoping in a few weeks I'll be able to relax and enjoy the pregnancy!

Really interested to hear anyone else's experiences x

I really wouldn’t worry, the measurements are so tiny at that stage it’s all a bit estimated. And babies grow at different rates throughout-I guess most people don’t have measurements repeated during first trimester so they don’t know. I had three scans during first trimester and dates did change each time.

Thank you - I know it's likely fine and just one of those things 🙂
