Anyone had a chemical?

Vfl on Tuesday which has darkened each day. I started light spotting (brown) on Thursday evening (af due yesterday) which has continued and gotten slightly heavier and pink today. I'm thinking it's been a chemical unfortunately.

Can anyone who's had a chemical, tell me how quickly your lines began to fade away once you'd started bleeding?

Thank you xx

@CosmicLove sorry to hear this and hope you're ok. When I had a CP I actually got a negative test the day before my bleeding began. I had faint lines from my BFP which never really progressed. Then a negative test at 4+5 and bleeding began the next day. I think it's one of those things that probably varies a bit from person to person. That said, is it possible this is an implantation bleed? If your lines are still strong in a day or two and bleeding settles, it might be worth giving your EPU a call to ask for advice. Sending hugs. X

@SnookyPook thanks so much for replying. I think it's too late to be an implantation bleed unfortunately, just knowing when we likely conceived and when I got the first BFP. My spotting seems to have settled in the last hour or so, so will see if it comes back. I think I'll do as you suggest and take tests tomorrow and Monday. If still got decent ish lines, I'll call EPU on Monday for advice. Thank you so much and sorry for your CP. it's so difficult to go through any loss. Sending hugs to you too ❤️ xx

I had a chemical in March and it took over a week for the lines to disappear although they were getting fainter during that time. My bleeding was like a full blown period though and actually ended up lasting over 2 weeks in the end but obviously everyone is different. Fingers crossed it’s not bad news as I think pink/brown is common in early pregnancy. Such a confusing time though!

Thank you so much and sorry for your loss. It always feels the term "chemical" is banded around so casually, much more so than the word miscarriage. But it's still so hard, especially for those of us with a history of other losses. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that my line will be darker again tomorrow 🤞 thanks again xx

Hi, exactly a year ago I was on mumsnet searching for threads on bleeding during pregnancy. I was 8 weeks when I started to bleed. It started off dark and gradually turned pink/light brown. I remember my GP thought I was having a miscarriage - I also convinced myself that I was losing my baby and during my 12 week scan (I was actually 10 weeks at the time) I finally got to see my baby. The sonographer told me that It might’ve been delayed implantation bleeding and that it’s very common. My mother also experienced something very similar when pregnant with me. In fact she told me her bleeding was very similar to a period. Sending hugs.

@CosmicLove thank you. Last year was tough - the CP followed a MMC earlier in the year and then I had another MC the cycle straight after... But currently almost 33wks with a little miracle 🙏🏼 I see you've also had other losses so hopefully this will bring you some hope. Still keeping my fingers crossed for you that this one has a happy ending! 💕

CosmicLove · 23/06/2024 08:08

@SnookyPook so sad to read your story but I'm delighted to hear it has a happy ending and you are expecting! That's wonderful. Wishing you all the very best for baby's arrival. Not too long to wait now!

I miscarried twins in April, they stopped developing at 6 weeks but I didn't start bleeding till nearly 10 weeks while I was waiting for rescan. The whole thing was quite traumatic with extreme blood loss, surgical evacuation under general anaesthetic and blood transfusion. I'm hoping for a better outcome this time 🤞

@Pinkymummy thank you so much for your reply. That's really encouraging to hear.

A wee update from me: my spotting stopped yesterday evening (for now🤞) and I think my line is slightly darker today. I'll attach my tests xx

@CosmicLove oh bless you you've had an awful time too. Your line definitely looks stronger!! Keeping everything crossed for you. If any concerns ring EPU - due to the spotting and previous losses they may prescribe progesterone. Good luck!!

Persipan · 23/06/2024 13:22

When I had a chemical, my lines never got darker at all. Admittedly I wasn't using particularly good tests but it was basically faint line, faint line, fainter line, practically invisible line, got told by the GP that I couldn't infer anything from that and they drew bloods, went home and had the miscarriage before I got the blood test results back.

Do bear in mind that some bleeding in early pregnancy is very common and not necessarily indicative of a problem. Keeping everything crossed for you.

CosmicLove · 23/06/2024 14:14

Thank you @Persipan and I'm sorry for your miscarriage. It's so hard ❤️

@SnookyPook thank you I'm going to call EPU tomorrow for some advice and see if they might be happy to book me for a scan at 6 weeks, if I get there.

Fingers crossed 🤞 xx

My chemical was a faint line then an even fainter the next day and nothing. It is said that spotting can be normal in pregnancy, so finger crossed for you this could be a BFP.

I am sorry for your previous loss.

CosmicLove · 23/06/2024 17:52

@BeLemonQuoter thank you for replying and I'm sorry for your loss too. I so hope it's all okay. Just waiting it out 🤞 xx

I had a chemical- my line never got dark, it was always like a 9DPO rather than a solid line. I took a test late at night after worrying all day about a week after getting my positive and it was negative and a digi said not pregnant, did another digi in the morning and jr said pregnant but I knew something wasn't right, I started bleeding the next day. I got pregnant the following month and everything was smooth sailing there. I'm sorry for what you've been through. fwiw, my lines were never as dark as yours were and also I really dislike the term chemical pregnancy as I feel it really minimises what it is x

It really does minimise it. Its still a loss after building hopes up and making plans in your head. I'm sorry for what you went through but that's great to hear that you had a successful pregnancy so quickly afterwards.

EPU have booked me for a scan on Thursday 4th July so I'm now just waiting for that. My line looks a little darker again today but still having light spotting. Just have to try and keep hoping.

Thanks for replying xx

@CosmicLove that's great you've got the scan booked now and that line really does look hopeful to me. With my loss at 4+5 the lines never got anywhere near as dark as that. Keeping everything crossed for you! 🤞🏼🙏🏼💕
