Torn Cervix help

Hiya need a bit of help from you lot. Have any of you experienced a torn cervix that needed stitching and gone on to have another baby?

I have 3 children and my last one was a difficult birth with a few complications and then finally being told I had a torn cervix. When she was 10 months I had a bleed and the stitches came out (was supposed to be dissolvable but they never do in my body) so had a gnae appointment at 11 months who looked and said it had healed nothing more apart from if you get pregnant and you start bleeding come in and we'll stitch it closed.

So now I'm 11 weeks pregnant with #4 youngest is now 2 years 3 months. I have a consultants appointment at 20 weeks yet to get the date through. At least when I get to see them i can ask how bad the damage was etc, but i've been told by several mw's that it'll probably be an elective section as they won't want me to labour.

Wondered if anyone been in the same situation and what happened? was you allowed to labour naturally and have a natural birth or was it a section under no coniditions obviously with 3 kids at home (all natural) have a section now will really cause quite a bit of hassle as the boys are 3 and 5 so small age gaps between kids.

sorry to hear that, it is not very common, as you have gathered.

i do know of women who have had treatment on their cervix and been told it will affect labour i.e dilation but it has not. so i would definitely get some expert opinion on this as to whether a trial of labour or an elective section is best.

can you ask for a referral to someone sooner, so that you can talk it through>

also it might be worth going through your notes with someone to ensure you know how and why this happened,

did you have a forceps delivery?

michelleandkids · 13/04/2008 22:13

I had a ventouse delivery with my last but the cervix had already been tucked behind her head by the previous mw on duty (her shift had already ended by the time they decided to ventouse). Forgot to mention that she was 9lb 12 and born at 39 weeks so a big babba.

Yeah I think I'm gonna have to be forcefull on this issue. I'll wait till the 20 week consultant visit though it's hectic trying to get appointments to fit in with life already let alone asking for more I have mw on 1st may so might ask her more details although might very well see consultant sooner as I have high bp too not looking good this time is it lol

Thanks for your reply though much appreciated :D
