A scan at 33 weeks revealed I have moderate Polyhydramnios and baby has moderate fluid in abdomen, isolated ascites. Everything else on the ultrasound looks ok. The fetal medicine team say they haven’t seen this combination before. Has anyone else experienced, or heard of, something similar?

Hey hun. No advice to offer however I’m 36+2 and have had severe and high polyhydramnios for the last 10 weeks. My highest level of fluid was 36cm!! It’s now 30cm. How high is your fluid level? I’ve got GD which is why they think mine is high and my baby is currently weighing 7.2lb!

Hi Sunnyday14558.
This is my first post on mumsnet. After a search I saw your post and wanted to reply. Firstly I hope you’re ok! My little boy is now 1 but pregnancy with him was extremely stressful. We were told he had echogenic bowel and fetal ascites, after anmio, blood tests/ screening and weekly scans it wasn’t until he was 1 day old that he was diagnosed with a perforated bowel. He had an illeostomy that day. Sending lots of love to you and your baby xxx

Thank you for your post. Our baby is now seven weeks old and our experience seems similar. When he was born he also had a perforated bowel. They discovered it when he was one day old through exploratory surgery and he also had/has an ileostomy. It’s due to be reversed, most likely somewhere between 6-8 weeks. We’re still in hospital at the moment but should be going home soon!

Hello! It’s great to hear from you. I’m so glad you and your baby are doing well and are getting to go home soon. You’ll be a pro at changing stoma bags soon, that’s if you’re not already 😊. I can imagine it’s all been overwhelming. Our experiences sound similar. We were told the bowel perforation happened during the pregnancy which is extremely rare, it’s now been put down to a ischemic event. My little boy had his stoma reversal when he was 3 months old too, i still remember how happy I was when he did his first poo! 😬. Congratulations on your little boy xxx
