Question about a pram

Hi everyone. First time mum here so please don’t judge!

im looking at buying a 3 in 1 travel system
so I take it the pram turns into a pushchair?

Are newborns supposed to be strapped into the pram? I thought they lay flat without a harness. Am I able to remove the straps?
I know it’s silly questions but if you don’t know then you don’t know lol

Many of these systems have a totally separate baby carrycot with no straps. Then you take that off forever and replace it with a chair shaped section

As above all the travel systems I’ve seen have a carrycot for the pram part. When the baby is big enough for the pushchair you no longer need to carrycot. I haven’t seen a carrycot with straps although some have a newborn insert.

A travel system usually has a separate carry cot and around the age of 6 months you'll swap that out for the pushchair seat. You only use one or the other depending on the baby's age (or size). The car seat is the other piece of the travel system which clips onto the frame in a similar way (but may need adapters). You can use the car seat on the frame as long as you want but the heavier the baby then the harder it is to lift the car seat on and off the frame.
There are some pushchairs where the seat will recline almost fully backwards so there would be the pushchair straps in that instance. I have seen those marketed as being suitable for newborns but the separate carry cot is safer for a small baby.

We have a mamas and papas ocarro which comes with a carrycot and a pushchair attachment. The pushchair part has the newborn inserts so can be used from birth but we will probably be using the carrycot part until baby is a big bigger. I struggled to get my head round it aswell as had no clue..we went to the baby show at Excel London and tested a few out, there are a few around the country I think so depending where you are and when you due it might be worth looking them up. Alternatively you may have a place nearby where you can view and try them out.

Most commonly the seat and the bassinet are 2 separate things that go onto the frame. You do get some systems e.g. the babyzen yoyo with the newborn pack where newborns are strapped in, or with some prams you can buy inserts that allow you to use the seat from birth. These are good if you need a compact one piece fold e.g. small car boot or if you take public transport a lot and prefer baby securely strapped in as you might have to the pram on a tube escalator.
