Hi guys just after a little bit of advice was in a car accident about an hour or so ago, ( what I would call minor) the guy was doing some speed but thankfully swerved and has hit my back passenger side and caused some damage and written off his own car, I am currently around 9 weeks pregnant I feel okay in myself par from a headache I think from the shock of it all and no visable injurys but obviously cause I'm so early I just wondered if it's worth me going to get checked out or not obviously I know how rubbish it is for the nurses and doctors atm and don't want to waste there time especially with how early I am. I phone nhs 111 who are about as useful as a chocolate tea pot! I rang antenatal who unfortunately can't help me as I'm not over 20 weeks yet and said only a & e can help me any advice welcome

What did 111 advise?

Lalaland92 · 17/06/2024 19:35

Nothing they kept repeating where does it hurt I told them multiple times I felt OK didn't have visable injuries just shook up but they kept repeating the question in the end I did just end the call as I found it was just stressing me out more as they didn't seem to be listening

Did the police attend the scene if his car was written off? What did they advise?

Lalaland92 · 17/06/2024 19:50

Didn't call police stupid I know they guy was probably more injured than me said he didn't want ambulance or police there he gave me his insurance details and apologised stupid now I know thinking back but I was in a state of shock at the time and wasn't thinking straight

I thought you legally had to report accidents to the police?

Lalaland92 · 17/06/2024 20:05

I'm not sure I've drove 8 years and never been in an accident I will call my insurance company for advice

Sounds like a scary day for you.

Try and contact a early pregnancy unit at your hospital. Or your ante natal unit should be able to point you in the right direction of one.

You might feel the aches and pains tomorrow.

At 9 weeks little one is pretty cosy and safe in there but a scan would put your mind at rest.

Thank you for your advice I will do x

Hi lovely,
yea as someone else said there should be an early pregnancy department you can contact, this who you deal with before 20 weeks. In my experience they were really helpful and nothing was too much bother. Obviously If there are people there who ar higher priority than you you may have a bit of a wait but they will probably tell you to come in x

The police aren’t medical professionals…they would always say get checked out to cover their backs.

Hope you're doing okay today.

@Lalaland92 this exact thing happened to me about 3 weeks ago when I was 9 weeks pregnant. It was very scary. Like you I felt ok, but I did end up getting checked out at A&E the same day and then a private scan the next day. Baby seemed absolutely fine and I know they are very protected that early on. I would do whatever you need to do to get reassurance, even if you feel physically fine.
