Drank too much caffine - 5 weeks pregnant

I am so worried

I was in A&E last night (a long story) and had my daughters birthday party - was so tired so afterward and without thinking poured some coke zero into a mug from party. I then without thinking, had another mug. I think this equated to 2 cans (no other drink inbetween)

I got up and felt dizzy and shaky. Thought maybe it was how tired I was (6 hours sleep - 4 at night, 2 hour nap) and then realised it must be a caffine high. Quickly downed a load of water but now I am terrified. I have cut caffine out compeltly but wonder if because my body is not used to caffine; that this caffine is extra dangerous!?

I am terrified I will cause a miscarriage!

Many thanks in advance x

Caffeine is only dangerous in pregnancy if it’s a regular thing. You will be fine after a proper sleep.

Coke Zero has 35mg of caffeine per can according to the web and you are allowed up to 200mg a day. You're well within the limit so will be fine x

You cannot cause a miscarriage. Suggesting so is very upsetting to those of us who’ve had them.

This.

But also if a can of Coke could cause a miscarriage it would have easily solved a lot of women's problems over the decades.

You didn’t drink too much caffeine OP don’t worry.
NHS website says:
You can have caffeine, but no more than 200mg per day. Regularly drinking more than this amount can increase your risk of pregnancy complications, such as low birthweight, and even miscarriage.

It also says a can of coke as 40mg caffeine.

@Peonies12 @CaptainMyCaptain I couldn't agree more and Im sorry if my message suggested this. I don't think anyone who has had a miscarriage has caused it but the mind still plays tricks. I lost my son two years ago in pregnancy and I understand loss and the blame game all too well. Pregnancy is tough! X
