How do I date this pregnancy?

Hello,

I had a chemical in January and a MMC in March. I had no periods or ovulation (testing with strips and temping) for 7.5 weeks, then had a bleed that started 04/05. I then bled again after just 18 days on 22/05 and ovulated 30/05 (CD9). I got a BFP on 08/06 (CD18).

I called EPU to let them know as they said they'd scan me early if I got pregnant again, and the midwife said it wasn't possible to be only two weeks pregnant. She said it can't have been a period and must have been an intermittent bleed, but it's the only bleeding I've had that I've then ovulated after and tests were negative at 8DPO then positive from 9DPO. I therefore have no idea how to date my pregnancy.

With all this in mind, I know that the NHS will want to go from a last LMP, which means all my appointments and future scans will likely be several weeks too late. This caused huge anxiety in my last pregnancy and they didn't want to listen to my concerns which became quite triggering. I don't know how to date this myself though and don't know whether to give an alternative date in case it messes with anything going ahead.

How would you go about trying to determine the maths here? I have discalcular so maths isn't my strong point 😅. Thank you.

I became pregnant at a time when my periods hadn't yet returned after giving birth to DC2 and I had no idea when conception took place. My GP sent me for an urgent scan which determined how far along I was. I'm not sure what else they could have done.

They should send you for an urgent scan which will give them an idea, and then properly date from 12 weeks.

You know when you ovulated. Just put the date two weeks before that as your LMP. If EPU have said you can have an early scan, they’ll date off that anyway. In both my pregnancies I have ovulated at weird times and my dates have been way off.

I did what @RampantKrampus said, because I knew for certain when ovulation was. So I just did -14 days for an estimated lmp when I went for a private scan at 9 weeks. It was 3 days behind but better than 13 days behind which it would have been because I ovulated late that cycle.

That all said you’re going with epu, just explain that you know when you ovulated. Mention the two bleeds and then just know in your head if they try to scan you at 4-6 weeks they might not see much/anything yet.

I fell pregnant after a mmc with no period in between and had the same concerns. I knew when I ovulated and so just told them it was 2 weeks before that (my midwife actually told me to do it to avoid scans etc being out)

Thanks all, my GP already knows and they don't want anything to do with pregnancy. They said to self refer, but when I self refer I need to give them a date and last time they were adamant it had to be the typical 28 day cycle dates.

I called EPU myself, I've not self referred to the maternity service via the usual channels yet as I've had no idea what dates to give them. My concern either giving them the wrong dates was that it might have a knock on effect going forward if there is something wrong again, but everything you've all explained makes sense.

I felt quite calm the last few days, but it's given way to a lot of stress and the trauma of the last two losses is haunting me. Thank you for giving me some options to think about.
