Low lying placenta and flying

I had a scan this week (21 weeks) and have been told that my placenta is covering the cervix. I'm supposed to be going on a 4 hour flight in a couple of weeks and I don't know what to do. The doctor didn't seem too bothered and said it was no different to sitting at home but I've googled everything and it looks like it could be dangerous. Has anyone been in a similar situation?

Rely on the advice from your GP, Midwife or consultant etc, not Google. The information on the Internet can be out of date, and plain wrong.

So, seek advice if anxious about flying from clinicians who know you and are up to date with current treatment plans and advice.

I’ve just flown abroad and back with a low placenta. Didn’t even cross my mind it was a concern, I haven’t had any bleeding or anything. As PP said; please take advice from medical professionals not Google. Just make sure you have travel insurance for where you’re going if you did need medical care

Thank you. Was your placenta low lying or covering the cervix?
