Hi all, i have read so many books with this pregnancy and they nearly all say that birth in over 35's usually end up with more intervention ect... and are harder, usually with more risk of problems, now i am scared !! my last preg's were 15 and 17 yrs ago, so i had no problems, but now i am so nervous about the birth, is there any mums over 35 that can give me some info of their experiences please ....

hi lennie congratulations I am sure someone else will give you more info but I had dd at 36 and the pregnancy was fine the delivery was long and hard but with no intervention, dd was back to back

I'm 40 now and had DS when I was 37 (first baby). Apart from high risk triple test which mercifully proved negative after an amnio I had no problems at all.

Went into spontaneous labour at 38 weeks and DS popped out a few hours later, no pain relief or anything. Breastfeeding, weaning, all the usual milestones the same as a mum any other age.

You'll be fine !

Congratulations, don't forget that those are the statistics, they are not YOU! If you are generally healthy, not overweight, don't smoke etc you can plan for a healthy pregnancy and birth I reckon!

Hiya, Congratulations!

Every pregnancy is different. I gave birth naturally to my DD in December. I had no medical intervention and had a home birth with NO pain relief. I have just turned 40!!! So dont always believe what you read.

You'll be fine!

Oh and i also have a DS of 17 years old so i know how daunting things can feel now as things have changed so much!

I suspect that as you have done it twice before (and your body will remember!) you are less at risk of intervention than a first-timer. I had a vbac at 36 with no intervention even though I had an epidural near the end. Expecting number 3 in a few weeks (I'm now 40) and expect it to go swimmingly

Hi, I am 38 and have had no problems in this pregnancy (1st) and I will let you know how the birth goes.. I am due so wont be long..

fletchaaarr · 07/04/2008 15:56

Hi - I had my first at 19 (TERRIBLE birth but very easy pg), my second at 29 (OK Pg, OKish birth, apart from being ignored for 12 hours)

Had DD 18 months ago (age 36) and the pregnancy was hard, I felt really tired and ached, but the birth was a walk in the park compared to the other two.
