NIPT test experiences? Would you recommend?

Hi!

I'm looking for peoples NIPT experiences, can't decide whether to get one or not but I think it'd put my mind at ease!

  1. was it accurate for detecting chromosomal abnormalities for you?
  2. Was the sex given correct? A few people have said it's been wrong!
  3. How much did you pay?
  4. Where did you get it done? I know lots of places do them and I'm not sure what's the best. A place near my house does 'concepto' for £200 but seems a bit too good to be true?
  5. Did it give you reassurance/ are you glad you had it done whatever the outcome?

Thank you!! As many experiences as possible would be so helpful x

Yes I did it in my last pregnancy and it was very reassuring. Am currently 5 weeks pregnant and if I make it to 10 weeks will defo be doing it again. It’s far more accurate than the NHS tests. As I’m older, I wanted to extra reassurance.

I’ve never heard they get the sex of baby wrong, I thought that would be impossible as they would either see a Y chromosome or they won’t.

The price will vary depending on whether you get just the bloods or bloods+scan. I’ve been looking recently and prices range from £300-£600 where I am in London.

I had one on the NHS after a higher chance result on the combined screen.
I cannot advise on sex, cost or where it was done but my daughter was born with no conditions so yes it was accurate.
If I were pregnant again I would get the NIPT ahead of the combined screen because the stress of a higher chance result at 12 weeks then waiting for NIPT results was really awful, I would rather have done it earlier.

We had one for both pregnancies. It was accurate both times for sex and ruling out genetic issues.
From what I've read it is incredibly reliable . Of course it only detects certain genetic abnormalities ( the most common) unless there's specific ones you need to add e.g due to a family history.
