Hi

I feel like I'm really suffering with sickness and nausea. I'm dry heaving in the morning as I've not eaten yet then I'm sick after I've eaten. The nausea lasts all day. Im sick 2 or 3 times a day at least. I've lost some weight.
I've tried lavender oil, anti sickness wristbands, ginger tea, boiled sweets ect and none of it helps?

Hi there, sorry to hear you’re feeling sick. First couple months i felt sick from the moment I woke up. If I didn’t wake up and eat immediately and left it an hour or so I would then be sick. So as soon as I open my eyes 6am or 6.30 I eat wheatabix with milk. The milk seems to settle me; then have breakfast at about 8.30 toast with butter and Marmite, I then have to eat regularly to stop the sickness feeling I am sure if I didn’t snack or eat I’d of been very sick. ( I went to my sisters for a weekend and she made a breakfast but at a usual time for us for a weekend - about 8.30 -9.00 I was so sick and threw it up!) xx

There are anti sickness drugs the doctors can give you. They really help.

The old wives remedies don't really make any difference.

Thank you guys. I just feel so rough, I don't remember feeling this bad with my first although that was 17 years ago!

I'm going to talk to the GP on Monday although I'm not sure they can give me anything with citalopram?

I find milk in the morning helps too. Then I have something a bit more substantial later morning

I hope they are able to give you something to help.
First time here for me so can’t advise anymore I’m afraid.
try not to let it get you down. My first couple weeks I struggled as just wanted to feel well. So understand where you are x

Yes that does sound pretty severe and definitely worth seeing the gp. Nausea is so debilitating.

With my first, I had to have a packet of ginger biscuits/flapjack or something on my bedside table to eat as soon as I woke and that seemed to help a lot. Then eating very regularly. I’m normally very much a breakfast skipper, don’t need to eat regularly so it was a complete change.

Aw OP, it is rough.

Call GP on Monday and ask for anti-sickness medicine. This is just anecdotal but Xonvea has worked best for me, this is my third pregnancy with hyperemesis and this is the least severely ill I've been out of them all. It's expensive and the guidelines were only updated a few months ago to recommend it as a first line treatment so lots of GPs won't have ever heard of it. Mine hadn't, I asked for it and referenced the guideline and they looked it up and agreed to prescribe. Can be tricky to get in pharmacies too though as absolutely nowhere stocks it as standard.

There is also a fantastic charity called Pregnancy Sickness Support that can support you with advice and even have peer mentoring.

I'm 21 weeks now and still being sick a couple of times a week and have horrible nausea every evening and about half of the rest of the time. But miles better than I was earlier in pregnancy and as this is my third rodeo I'm hopeful I will be completely better in another month or two like the last two times.

Definitely go to your GP. I was a wreck for over a week being sick and feeling constantly nauseous. We tried cyclizine first- one tablet a day just didn't cut it and my doc was reluctant to up the dosage. On Cariban now, 2 tablets at night and I have gone 36 hours without feeling the need to vomit. Admittedly, I'm not 100% as in. I still don't really have an appetite, but at least I am able to keep food down!

Hiya, I am 6 weeks tomorrow and also feeling really rough! Constant nausea and dry heaving 😩 just wanted to say I am on citalopram also and the GP has said that Cyclizine is fine to take with it, I only started them yesterday and they haven’t started working for me yet though and make me incredibly drowsy. Good luck finding something that suits you 😊 I hope we all feel better soon!
