Low placenta at 32 weeks - home birth?

I am currently 32 weeks and still seem to have a low posterior placenta (stenographer yesterday just said it still looked low but wouldnt properly measure yet). I am due another scan at 34 weeks and know that if it is less than 2cm I will need a c section. I have been planning a home birth and was wondering if anyone has had experience of this when the placenta is 2cm or more?

I'll obviously go with advice from the consultant but I've spent the night worrying about it and wondered if anyone has been in a similar situation? Is there still an increased risk of bleeding and therefore I'll be advised to give birth at hospital?

Thanks

I'm sorry to say this but you will likely need a C Section if it's less than 2cm. A home birth won't be a safe option because there's a higher chance of a big bleed. A posterior placenta has less chance of moving away as well because the back of the womb doesn't stretch much compared to the front when baby is growing.

I had a low placenta at 32 weeks but it had moved far enough by 36 weeks that I could have a vaginal birth. They did want me to give birth on the delivery suite though, rather than at home or the birth centre. It may depend on your own hospital policy - I remember looking at the time and couldn’t find any NHS guidance on this so I’m not sure if there is a common approach.

At my trust the advice is less than 2cm = cs, 2-4cm recommend deliver in hospital, over 4cm - all options ok.
