35 weeks pregnant - insomnia

I'm 35 weeks pregnant and really struggling to sleep. I'm comfortable in bed but seem to be taking ages to get to sleep, waking up every hour or two then wide awake by 5am. I was really hoping to 'stock up' on my sleep before the baby arrives! If anyone has any advice, that would be great, but it'd also be good to know I'm not alone...

Right here with you at 36 weeks! I’m wide awake at 3am until around 6, when I can usually drop off again. Thank god I’m on mat leave already as I was really struggling to cope when I had to be up for work at 7.

The only thing that helps is I seem to sleep way better the night after my yoga class but even then, it’s a bit hit and miss. Maybe some gentle stretching before bed? Otherwise, I have no advice sadly. Everyone says it’s to prepare you for the sleepless nights with a newborn 🫣 which doesn’t offer much solace but it seems to be a very common thing

You might be deficient in mag and zinc..get a supplement for this. Also a epsom salt soak some swear by.

Yup it's horrible I'm 38 weeks nearly and awake every 2 hours either just randomly or because I'm uncomfortable. I've found I sleep better the nights where I've done more walking and moving around during the day and/or had a bath. I used to pretty much sleep through for 7/8 hours even throughout pregnancy so this has been a big shock! But it does make you realise you can function on less sleep..!

I had this - moment baby was born the insomnia goes.

So does sleep time too though lol
