Hi everyone,

I went for a growth scan today 35 weeks + 4 days as baby has been measuring big the last few times I have been scanned (28 week and 32 week scan), I had one today and the sonographer said baby looks healthy, placenta looks fine and umbilical cord flow looks all okay and he didn't have any concerns and said baby is 62nd percentile which is now average for the baby.

I then had a midwife appointment straight after as she wanted to see me after the scan and she said that she was concerned that it had dropped so much and worried that the placenta may not be working the way it should, she asked if the baby is moving and I said he's been a little wriggler (even with an anterior placenta!) so she was happy but then sent me up to see another doctor for scan.

We then waited an hour and the doctor said they'll book us in for scan in two weeks time so 37/38 weeks to see if the baby has stayed the same or dropped again, then they may look an inducing me early if has dropped but she also said it's still within the normal range and not major cause for concern at the moment.

I've heard that measurements etc. can be totally off sometimes and I just thought the baby had evened himself out but has anyone had anything similar or been told anything similar? I did mention this to the last doctor and she said if it was human error and few centiles off then she would say possibly yes but the fact is was a 30% drop then probably not.

Baby is moving about as I write this so that's why I'm not majorly concerned!

I had something similar. I had scans as I had a lot of reduced movements, and then a scan about six weeks later to see if my baby was still breech. They realised her growth had slowed down. This was a Friday and I was induced on the Monday at 38+2. They did tell me that if I had any more reduced movements over the weekend they would induce immediately, and if it wasn't for the previous reduced movements they would say it was 50/50 whether they would induce.

All of my scans were totally fine re placenta and blood flow, but when she was born the placenta was small so who knows if we actually had a lucky escape. I don't regret inducing, it wasn't any worse than natural labour (born six hours after the pessary went in, just had gas and air).
