Bleeding at 6-7.5 weeks then again at 11?

I'm 11 weeks pregnant atm. The EPU are great but always feel like I'm wasting their time as a cause of bleeding like a haematoma is never found, which is great but must just be an irritable cervix or something I'm thinking?

I first had pink bleeding at 6 weeks, went for a scan. Spotted for a week or so then got redder at 7.5 weeks. Called them back, they scanned me again said all was fine. And to ring back if it perseveres for 2 weeks, or it changes in intensity.

Had a great few weeks, spotting stopped at about 8.5 weeks and no more since. But tonight I've just gone to the toilet and spotting again? Haven't had sex recently, doesn't feel weird down there or anything? But pink spotting again? Do I go back or am I wasting their time? Always feel a bit embarrassed like I'm too cautious as they say bleeding is only really a concern if it's a lot? But then don't want to ignore and it be something?

What would you do?

You are not wasting their time and you should go back as many times as you need to. That’s precisely what they are there for!

I had a similar experience bleeding in early pregnancy, and it took about 6 visits to the EPU with bleeding before I finally saw a doctor who took it seriously and investigated to eventually diagnose the cause (cervical polyp in my case).

You’ve nothing to feel embarrassed about. Bleeding while pregnant is worrying enough without also worrying what people will think if you seek help.

Hope you get the support you need.

Thanks @AnnieStar12 yeah I think you're right, I should just call them tomorrow really! I always feel like I'm wasting their time which I know is silly, but when they say oh yeah here's baby all fine no evidence of bleeding I just feel a bit silly. A lady who I go to mum and tots group with said she would just say she had bleeding to get 'free early scans' in her pregnancy and another woman there agreed with her and said she did the same?! So now I feel like someone might think I'm lying.. I didn't comment as not my place to judge, I don't know others situations but I could never do that knowing I'm taking the slot from someone who may need it!

I actually do think there's something underlying as I had similar with my daughter! Only a few episodes but I think I'm very prone to it! I'll give them a call tomorrow and see what they think 😊x

I also had bleeding in the first trimester of my first pregnancy. I went back to the EPU 2 or 3 times always fearing the worst but my 13 year old is the evidence it all worked out. Don’t worry about wasting their time. Medically you should get this bleeding checked out and hopefully get the reassurance and maybe an explanation (although I never did get that - it just stopped).

everything crossed for you xx

Thanks @SmokeBlackCat that is really reassuring, thanks for letting me know your positive experience, it's so stressful and scary! I'm definitely going to go and get checked out, I won't be able to relax otherwise I don't think. It's not loads but any bleeding sets off alarm bells in me! Will update tomorrow incase others are having the same experience xx

@greyyyday I had this last pregnancy (unsuccessful, but not related) and it was a cervical ectropian.

greyyyday · 03/06/2024 21:49

@Orlahoping I've read about this, how was it diagnosed if you don't mind me asking? Is it something they can see on a scan or did you need like a physical check? X

It's an internal exam. GP just peered at my cervix with a speculum. I am expecting another one to develop in this pregnancy tbh and am dreading it! They're not dangerous at all but, as you say, the sight of blood is unsettling to say the least...
