Ate homemade Caesar salad and freaking out

I'm almost 25 weeks pregnant and I ordered a chicken Caesar salad from a restaurant and it didn't even click until after I'd eaten it that I probably shouldn't have as the dressing was homemade. I called the restaurant to ask if the eggs were red lion stamped and they passed me over to the kitchen who seemed confused but he said they were free range and then when I said "are they red lion stamped?" He said "uhhh, they're green lion stamped class A", there isn't even such thing as green lion so now I'm freaking out that I ate raw eggs

Any risk is the risk of food poisoning so if you're not experiencing any food poisoning symptoms you're fine.

I know it's hard to not freak out especially when the people preparing the food don't seem to know what they're using!

The risk from eggs is salmonella. Which largely has been removed from the food chain in the uk.

i’ve had salmonella. You know about it. If you aren’t trying to point both ends at the toilet simultaneously you’re fine :)

if it’s in the Caesar dressing then H&s would be closing them down rapidly as people became ill.

I had the same worry when I ate a sandwich with mayo from a sandwich shop when pregnant. I asked them and they said that all the eggs they get are pasteurised.

Remember - in France pregnant women were (not sure if it’s the same now) fine to eat unpasteurised cheese, and mayo (and drink a glass of wine with dinner).

The worry about the egg is probably worse for you than the egg. Obviously if you feel a bit off, call your GP. But I’m sure you and the baby will be fine.

I didn’t think you could get eggs where the chickens haven’t been vaccinated for salmonella in the UK, maybe from someone’s back garden chickens but definitely not in a restaurant. I wouldn’t think twice about it.

Also green lion is a thing- it means the same as red lion + eco credentials, hence why its green.

The risk is salmonella, which doesnt pose a particular risk to the baby, only to you. Or, if you are close to giving birth, the baby might be born with salmonella, which is not nice, but treatable and controlable.

If you dont have food poisoning right now, you are fine!

Thank you all so much. I know, logically, it will more than likely be fine but it's so hard not to be paranoid! Will just keep an eye out for any symptoms over the next few days x
