Probably, but best to check with your doctor or midwife, who will have a better idea of current guidance as well as your own medical history and risk factors.

I was told to wait 2 years after mine . It didn’t bother me because I wasn’t planning on having another one any earlier. I do know someone who has an 18 month age gap both c sections so it can be fine but it is probably more risky

I know someone who got pregnant with her second when her first was 12 months. Both CS, physically she was fine, her recovery wasn't an issue but having a toddler and a newborn was a bit more of a challenge.

I’m 14 months pp and we have just started ttc (well will be at least 15 months since I’m now out this cycle). I was going to wait until 18m but it took me 8 months and a miscarriage before I conceived ds, so I thought why wait.

Did your surgeon not mention after your surgery? I've had 3 sections, and each time the surgeon has told me the minimum time before another (literally when they were wheeling me out of surgery each time!). It depends on the individual, how straightforward the op was etc.

The advice seems to vary from 6 months to 24 months. I would have a chat with a MV or HV or GP.

17 months between my boys. They were my 2nd and 3rd csections. No issues with the birth or the recovery. Infact, probably the easiest recovery I’ve had. I didn’t gain much weight either as I was running round after a toddler throughout the pregnancy 😂

I asked my GP about this at my 6 week check after having DD, and she said the general rule of “minimum of twelve months between births, ideally eighteen” still applies post section (I’m hoping for a VBAC next time and if this baby sticks, there’ll be 22 months between them)

Usually it's advised to wait a year before conceiving. . I had an ECS then my second child was born 2 yrs 4 months later. I had a retained placenta but that was due to the stupid midwife pulling the cord. Having said that it does happen after sections sometimes. The issue was when I had baby number three 4 yrs 3 months after the first baby.

mondaytosunday · 01/06/2024 20:56

Sure - I was pregnant 11 months after my section, and my cousin - who had three sections - got pregnant three months after her first.

MiserableButLovesFood · 01/06/2024 20:57

10 months between my two. Both C sections. It was fine :)
The only thing they were worried about with me was if the embryo had implanted in my c section scar - that's considered a c section ectopic.

Currently 33 weeks pregnant with no2 after an emcs 16 months ago. So I was 9 months pp. Not planned as such but there's literally been no issues so far and no health professionals have batted an eye lid about the short gap! X
