Is the Artipoppe baby carrier worth it?

I've just made a Bank holiday splurge order for the Artipoppe baby carrier in dark grey leopard. It looks gorgeous and I've seen so many good things about it online.

Wondering if anyone has it and if it's worth it? My baby is due in September so I figured I have some time to decide!

I also have a referral code for £50 off on the AP website if anyone is also thinking of getting one.

Following as I’m thinking about getting one! I have the baby bjorn light but there is no waist strap and it kills my shoulders x

Really - that's interesting to know as I've not tried carrying anything with a baby in it yet! I like the look of the baby Bjorn light. Let me know if you find anything else good!

If you do decide to get an Artipoppe I can DM you my discount code, it does help although they're eye watering expensive! The resale value also seems insane though so hoping I can resell it in the future.

My friend has one and rates it. You can pick them up at better prices on vinted, the grey leopard print is popular so easy to buy second hand. I think my friend said she paid about £220 on vinted.

featherlampshade · 26/05/2024 12:26

Just think, if your baby grows quick and becomes heavy. You might only get 9-10 months use out of it. IMO it's absolutely pointless waste of money and there are equally as good if not better carriers available. Ergobaby for example x

MixedCouple2 · 26/05/2024 12:30

I used the Baby Bjorn until DS was 1.5years old and never had issues with aches and pains. (Purchased brand new on vinted for £75)
At home just backcarried with a very large thick piece of cotton and that was fine until DS was 2.

MalibuBarbieDreamHouse · 26/05/2024 21:42

I have throughly loved mine, brought it with DD1 and used it quite a bit, but when I had DD2 it became one of my most used baby items! So comfy to wear and my babies were always so happy to be there, especially on the grisly days, they would watch me setting it up, and instantly calmed! With DD2, I learnt to breastfed very discreetly in it too. Currently pregnant with #3 and so tempted to sell my old one- condition is very very good, and washes brilliantly and get a new one, they have some lovely new colour options!

However, my babies were lightweights so I can’t say how comfy it would be for those with chunkier heavier babes.

I have a Tula explore. Does the same job and about 1/5 of the price. They also come in nice designs etc and I just can’t see what it is about the Artipoppe that makes it so expensive. It’s no better. It’s just like paying £100 for a designer top instead of a £10 one that still serves the purpose of being a top just as well 🤷‍♀️

MrsWidgerysLodger · 26/05/2024 21:47

Agree with a PP who mentioned the Tula. We loved ours and it certainly got out through it's paces as we had a velcro baby

OnceICaughtACold · 26/05/2024 21:52

I am out of the baby carrier loop so I can’t speak to this one specifically. My advice would be that the right baby carrier for you is worth its weight in gold. But it has to fit you right - everyone goes on about Tula but I found them so uncomfortable. Ergobaby fit me much better, and with my second baby I discovered the Mamaruga Zensling which was amazing.

peonyjam · 26/05/2024 22:06

I have that exact one and have loved it. I found it easy to use and relatively comfortable. My baby is nearly 1 now and an average weight and we still use it. When he was a very little newborn it wasn't that easy to get a good fit and a stretchy sling was better. I think you are paying a premium for the aesthetic but I've no regrets.

Babyenroute · 26/05/2024 22:09

I have the dark grey leopard and have used it pretty much every day since DS was born. He is now 19 months and loves being on my back as I cook dinner so that he can see what's going on. One of the best baby purchases we made and well worth it for us.

So handy for busy places and he's been to rugby games and all sorts tucked in there.

BingoMarieHeeler · 26/05/2024 22:13

They do look exactly like the Tulas (now owned by ergobaby and pretty much identical) and you’re just paying extra for the prints? Nice prints though!

Agree you won’t know until you actually start using it! Which is why sling libraries are so useful.

We went in planning to buy an ergo and left with a stretchy wrap, which we upgraded to a Manduca when DS was about 4 months old. We then used that Manduca until he was about 4.

Blarn · 27/05/2024 07:30

Wow, they are expensive. I used a carrier with dd2 and loved it. Started with an ergobaby but got an Integra which had a much less bulky waistband and it was amazingly comfortable, used it front carrying until dd2 was well over 1 and then for back carrying until she was nearly 2. Getting the right one is important as otherwise you will not use it.

Google sling libraries near you, even if you need to travel a bit, and try them out. If you find one that is similar you get on with then splash out on the Artipoppe. It is a lot to pay if you don't know that the style will be comfortable for you.

OnceICaughtACold · 27/05/2024 07:33

To add - if you google “sling fit check” you’ll find plenty of online or in person options to have a sling consultant check the fit of your own sling and give you advice on how to adjust it. Well worth it, as is going to a sling library to try on different slings (with weighted baby doll) to figure out what works for you.

trevrrevtrev · 27/05/2024 07:58

I've got one (it was a gift so don't need to justify the expense) and I just do not get the hype. It's fairly comfy and looks nice but is not as amazing as you'd expect for a £300+ carrier.

supercalafragilisticexpealidocious · 27/05/2024 19:55

I've got one and a babybjorn and the babybjorn is much better. I've barely used the Artipoppe. Looks amazing, isn't very supportive, is annoying to put on.

CharlotteB94 · 27/05/2024 19:58

That's really helpful thank you everyone! I'm going to take a good look at it when it gets here and see if I think it's justified for the price / and how easy it'll be to use. Babybjorn and Tula are two other brands I've been looking at while deciding..

I do like the way AP look, the patterns and the straps as well as I've seen people say they're ergonomically good for baby. I'm new to baby carriers though so it's good to hear people are in general getting a lot of use out of them...

I've heard the ergo baby is really good. And good for parents back too. Babybjorn (the one we have anyway) was easy to put on and felt supportive for baby right from newborn. I found it was a bit sore on my shoulders after long periods though.

I found that with the Ergo! Just really didn’t fit right on my shoulders. Different body shapes suit different manufacturers I think.

Hey, just wondering how you’re getting on with it? I’m still considering! My baby is 6 months now so h sure if it’s a waste, he outgrown the baby bjorn.

Hi!
how long do you think you’ll be able to have baby in it for? My baby is 6 months and I need a new carrier but I’m worried about buying such an expensive one if it’s not going to last long!
