Im currently pregnant with baby no1 and im not sure where to start my antenatal care?

I read once on a thread that uclh scans were in groups!? Which is very uncomfortable for me.

Anyone here have experience in either and can enlighten me on birth and antenatal care in each?

I would like to give birth in a birth centre also.

Cheers .

Hey! I can’t comment on St Mary’s as I’ve never been there but I am currently 32 weeks pregnant and having all my antenatal care - scans, appointments etc at UCLH & that’s where I plan to have the baby. Never had a group scan. It’s been an amazing experience so far. I’ve been very well looked after throughout my pregnancy and their maternity fetal assessment unit (like urgent care for pregnant women 14+ weeks. Early assessment unit is before that) is very good, efficient and quick to be seen. Also 24hrs. There is a birth center and also labour ward there. I highly recommend it there. Good luck! :)

I can't comment on St Mary's either, but I'm also under joint care of UCLH's fetal medicine team, and it's an incredible hospital - the team are lovely, it's very clean and calm, and the facilities are amazing (particularly compared to my 'main' hospital)!

@mrsbgb @Stardust127 Thanks guys that was really helpful!
I submitted the referral for UCLH yesterday and I was emailed the app Mychart app which i think is great.

How long did it take you guys to get first appointment after the initial referral?

Aw that’s great, and also congrats on your pregnancy :) the MyCare portal is brilliant, you get all your test results and notes etc through on there, it’s all so quick and efficient! I use the online safari website though as my phone has no more space for apps due to having nearly 20,000 photos 🤣😩

Oh and sorry I didn’t answer your question in my last reply, I found out really early about my pregnancy (literally like 3-4 weeks) so it took a while to get an appt through as your first one will be your booking appointment at around 10 weeks then your first scan at 12 weeks x

I work at UCLH and am biased as we have a fantastic maternity provision
