Would like an elective section because of some issues last time when I tried natural and ended up with an emcs. But would love to hear peoples stories good and bad

I had my 4th csection last July. I personally have recovered quicker each time, whether that’s because I know what to expect or not I don’t know?
The 4th was longer than the others as there was more scar tissue but this was discussed with my surgeon beforehand. He met with me in the morning a few hours before I went down to theatre and spent a good half an hour discussing things with my husband and I.
Scar healed well, I recovered well again. Did have a longer hospital stay but due to baby not me.
Very happy with my 4 births.

I had 2 sections. 1st was ecs but was lovely. 2nd was elective as I have big babies & didn't want any risk of shoulders getting stuck.

Had elective 10 days early & it was great. I was back on the ward by lunch time & home after 2 days

I've had three - first was an emergency due to stuck baby getting distressed. Second was planned due to physiological reasons for EMCS #1. 3rd was technical emergency due to me going into labour the day before my planned c-section for a twin pregnancy. I recovered quickly from all three, I think number two was best as completely planned. 3rd was the least pain due to an incredibly secure feeling dressing. First was the toughest as it was preceded by 14 hours of full-on labour including an Induction drip fairly late on in proceedings.

CorpusInterruptus · 24/05/2024 00:47

It took perhaps double the time because of adhesions from the first but not worse in any other way.

Namechangedforthis25 · 24/05/2024 00:49

First was after 56 hours of labour not progressing - tough as was in hospital for a week

second was elective as I had gestational diabetes - was out of the hospital the next day with painkillers…… but I got an infection six weeks later which put me back into hospital via an ambulance - I couldn’t move my neck whilst in bed as my whole abdomen was inflamed. Was on antibiotics

overall I found recovery and postpartum period much harder second time around - my body just felt older and tired

but that’s not specific to a c section

I had 1 EMCS and then 1 ECS. All fine, took a bit longer with scar tissue and I have more of a c-section overhang now. But no problems, lot less stress and worry checking everything for signs of labour.

readyforroundthree · 24/05/2024 07:47

First baby EMCS due to labour complications.
Second baby ELCS due to previous labour trauma. Overall it was a success but it was a bit hairy towards the end because my spinal started to wear off and I could feel a burning/pinching sensation as they were stitching me back up. They acted very quickly and pumped me full of morphine so it was manageable!
Third baby (currently pregnant) I have been advised to have an ELCS as I've already had two CS. This makes me nervous because of the spinal not working properly last time, but they said the surgeon will want to discuss this with me beforehand on what they will do this time. I might even have an epidural and spinal.

Do peoples scars itch? First EMCS September 2022. Still itches now. DC2 due September 2024 and worried about itching and keloids all over again.

Mine doesn’t itch. Mine were 2014, 2017, 2019 & 2023

29 years later still occasional itch. No keloid. Scar hidden in my overhang as I'm overweight. 😁

ToastonEggs · 24/05/2024 13:41

First one was emergency due to failure to progress after 2 days of induced labour. Recovered fine.

second was planned about two years later but had complications so ended up staying in the hospital for 10 days. The c section itself took a bit longer as well due to the adhesions

no itching for me but sometimes it still hurts slightly and a prominent c section shelve

anicecuppateaa · 24/05/2024 13:57

1 emcs and 2 elcs here. The elcs were much calmer. I found recovery more difficult only because I had older dc to look after the subsequent times.
