Hi 👋🏻
So I am currently 8 weeks pregnant . I am having such a hard time with all day nausea , no energy to do anything , my emotions are all over the place. I could cry over I feel like anything . Any advice / tips on how you coped if you had any of this . I feel like I am such a Lazy person at the moment , I am usually a tidy freak and love cooking but so much is making me feel sick that I don't enjoy cooking and with no energy I am just not getting on .
Having a hard time this first trimester

I have no advice other than that was me at around that time, I'm now 20 weeks tomorrow and that feels like a lifetime ago.
I can't really remember when I felt better about the 12 week mark I think I started to get my energy back and my appetite, no more sickness and nausea.
I feel good now, no symptoms just little kicks to remind me he's in there.
All I can say is it'll pass and you'll forget you felt so awful once you get into 2nd trimester.
My midwife said I was low on iron so that's why my fatigue was so extreme and I was prescribed iron and that really helped.
Have you had your iron checked? it's really common to be low.

I sympathise, I am in the same boat.

All I want to do is lie on the sofa by lunchtime as I am done in.

Had to go on a bus today and let's sit say that was not fun and has totally zapped my energy (used it all holding back the heaving while watching my other children)

I am ready for bed.

Yep I was like this! Just eat whatever you can, and let yourself rest. Most likely you’ll feel better when you get into second trimester, I did.

LM92020 · 21/05/2024 14:08

I havnt had my iron checked yet but have midwife next week so will have my bloods done then . be interesting if that is the case as would explain a lot.

its awful this feeling i just can’t wait for it to pass . Not nice knowing you others are suffering or have suffered as it’s just such an awful feeling but nice to know I am not alone as you really can feel it sometimes .

I just wish the whole food scenario didn’t make me feel so sick as still have to cook for my 2 children .

oh what fun we go though

I felt exactly the same around that time. Just relax and don't worry too much about being lazy and useless. Don't pressure yourself to do anything you don't want to. I used to fall asleep every night at 7pm. I tried to fight it at first but then I just gave in.

Guess what, several weeks fast-forward, you will get your energy back and it will feel amazing. It's a tough time but it will get much better in about a month. <3

rwa818 · 21/05/2024 14:30

I was the same, it's horrible. Just do what you can to get through it, eat what you can and rest. Listen to your body. It should pass or at least improve around 12 weeks. Worry about eating healthier when you've stopped feeling nauseous and there's plenty of time for preparing for the baby later in the pregnancy.
Are you taking prenatal vitamins? I felt awful during my first pregnancy and was anaemic when I had my first set of blood tests. With my second I took a prenatal multivitamin right from the start and didn't get anaemic at all and did feel a bit better.

@LM92020 - I feel for you, no words of wisdom just solidarity! I am currently 12+4 and still struggling with all day nausea, dry heaving and fatigue. I also have a 18 month old full time and the poor thing is having rubbish meals and watching so much TV. Was definitely hoping to feel better by now, as with DC1 I felt better around 10/11 weeks so there’s a good chance yours will shift soon!

Elisabeth3468 · 21/05/2024 16:00

I feel the exact same. I'm so tired and there's no relief even if I nap in the day with my 2 year old. I've gone off most foods too and my nausea is really bad in the evening. Honestly I feel awful. It will pass 🤞 second trimester generally feel a bit better xx

T2024 · 22/05/2024 07:23

Yeah don't worry about trying to cook meals, when I had super strong food aversion, I just picked the specific food I wanted each day and it changed daily lol it was either ordered in or something quick to grab.

Also do schedule in a daily nap if you can, if I had a day off work, that was a big must for me especially a few weeks ago.

Don't feel guilty about taking it easier, you're making a little baby, your body is using up a lot of energy x

Olika · 22/05/2024 07:30

Hopefully once the placenta takes over in coming weeks you feel better. I felt so much better after that.

readyforroundthree · 22/05/2024 09:25

You are not alone.
I'm 9 weeks today and was in bed at 7:30pm last night fast asleep. This will be my third child and I think the worst thing about this pregnancy is the fatigue, I'm struggling to stay awake at my desk at work. On my lunch break I'm sitting in my car with my eyes closed. I thought about laying across the back seats and going for a nap but don't want anyone to see me 🤣

LM92020 · 22/05/2024 11:28

Hey
sounds like we are all really going through it .
I need to stop feeling guilty that I am what feels like absolutely useless .
I spoke with my doctor this morning and they have prescribed me with Cyclizine ? Anyone else had this ?
xx

@LM92020 I was prescribed Cyclizine with my second pregnancy but this time I have been prescribed Metoclopramide. I think they take the edge off but the nausea never completely goes. Luckily the past couple of days I've been feeling less sick. Wish I could say that about the tiredness as well.

deckbelow · 22/05/2024 12:29

Ah yes, I remember this well with both pregnancies. The exhaustion is so consuming, I was napping almost every day after work. Just put life on hold for a bit as much as you can, to get through it! Around week 8-10, I asked for a sick note from the doc for a week off work - luckily my manager was very understanding as his wife had been the same for each of her multiple pregnancies.
