Steroid cream and pregnancy - worried

Hey everyone

I suffer from a horrible skin condition on vulva called Lichen Sclerosis - it gets worse with hormones and I'm about 6/7 weeks pregnant so as you can imagine it's flared up quite badly.

I continued to use my Lotriderm cream probs about 5 times over the last three weeks - a pea sized amount but it has helped reduce the pain and swelling.

However spoke to Dr today who told me it's not safe to use in pregnancy and if it I want to take the risk then that's my own choice!

So I will stop using it but terrified I've caused damage to baby.

Has anyone else been in this position? And any non medicated remedies for LS in pregnancy? I'm quite scared if it gets worse.

Thanks so much.

Try not to panic. I would speak to a pharmacist instead but a small amount would be a tiny risk, especially as your placenta hasn’t fully formed yet. I’m not a medical professional but the likelihood is that baby will be okay.

If it helps, I’m on (oral) steroids (prednisolone 25mg) to maintain a pregnancy so they can’t be too harmful. It’s not unusual for miscarriage prevention/immune protocols.

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply.

Yes I'm hoping no damage caused, I'm still quite early in pregnancy. And that's interesting on oral didn't realise that!

Icing on the cake is that I now have a UTI! Got antibiotics this afternoon from GP but couldn't write it. So grateful for pregnancy, I hope these things settle

Just an update that after all this fuss from Dr and midwife about the cream, I finally saw my dermatologist today who frowned when I told her what I had been told and she said perfectly fine to use Lortiderm in pregnancy! So I will be using it as I'm in a great deal of pain, but only apply twice a week max
