Fire smoke exposure dangerous for baby?

Hello everyone, I may be overthinking here but feeling quite concerned and looking for some reassurance/advice! We are visiting my brother in law and he has an open wood fire. I was sat in the lounge next to the fire probably for about two hours. I didn’t realise how smokey it was until I left the room and came back in. When I realised I opened the windows and kept the window of our bedroom open all night. I don’t feel sick or dizzy but this morning my chest does feel a bit tight/heavy. I am 21 weeks pregnant.

Do you think baby will have been harmed? We are staying here tonight too and not back home until Sunday so can’t go to hospital for carbon monoxide test - would it still pick up any bad levels if I had one on Monday?

You and baby will be fine OP, gently, you're overreacting

I grew up in a house with open fires and my mum lived there through both of her pregnancies, my brother and I were completely unaffected. I really wouldn't worry. Just think how many cultures have relied, and still rely, solely on open fires as their means of heat. And how many mums smoke throughout pregnancy and have healthy babies! As a further example, my best friend lives in a cottage with an open fire and so does my brother, whose wife had a baby in August. Noone ever mentioned anything to them about it being dangerous and their babies came out perfect. If it will put your mind at ease then contact your midwife to request a carbon monoxide test, but I really don't think you need to worry.
