13 weeks and feeling worse than ever

Hi all, bit of a pointless question really but did anyone else find themselves feeling worse after 12 weeks?
All of my friends who've been pregnant in recent years have told me they magically started feeling better around week 12, and while I have had quite bad nausea and headaches throughout, it's really hot rock bottom this past week.
I have nausea and tummy pains keeping me awake, headaches in the evenings meaning I can barely socialise and less energy than ever.
Did anyone else feel like this at around this stage? I feel like something's wrong with me and of course it's in that long chunk between scans where you don't know if everything's okay. (Had a MC last time so I'm probably a bit more neurotic than usual). I'd be so grateful if anyone could reassure me.

I was feeling awful until about 14 —15 weeks for 4 pregnancies.

I have a friend who had morning sickness throughout the pregnancy until birth, then finally relieved it was gone. She had two healthy babies

Keep fluids up, sip water throughout the day: this could hopefully ease the headaches.

Sorry you are still getting the sickness rough OP. Every pregnancy is different. I was sick until 14 weeks with first and then it actually came back at 22 weeks and stayed to the end!! With current pregnancy, I was sick up to around 20 weeks and thankfully it then went away almost entirely. Some people don't get sick at all, which is the only way I can understand how people don't realise they are pregnant so it really is a spectrum of experience. I dont know how much of this is reassuring but I used to think, well at least having these awful symptoms tells me the pregnancy is still going strong. My cousins had HG and were hospitalised so I'd also count myself lucky I wasnt so bad as that. Rest and take things as easy as you can OP and with a bit of luck the worst of your symptoms will lift soon and you'll feel a bit more functional again. Phone triage or your midwife if ever you need some reassurance or advice. I'm always really honest and say that I eally don't enjoy pregnancy, it's a means to an end for me, I LOVE what I get at the end of it though so that has gotten me through both. Wishing you all the best with this pregnancy!!

Thank you, this is really helpful. I definitely thought I'd enjoy pregnancy more and I guess I'm just waiting for the nice bit to start! I didn't realize it would take me out of action quite so much. A means to an end is a really good point, I'll keep that mindset. And yes at least I know I still have symptoms, that's got to be a good sign.

I was bad up until about 17 weeks this time round it was awful I feel for you so much I remember how horrible it was hopefully you will start feeling better soon x

Happyharper · 18/05/2024 13:19

My sickness peaked at week 13/14 so i think it's differnt for everyone. Felt awful until week 18.

Op I was sick as a dog all through my pregnancy, even during my birth, and spent a lot of it waiting for it to go (it did once she was born!). I resented other people's easier pregnancies if I'm honest. I was signed off for 2 months at 10 weeks as I just couldn't function at work with headaches and nausea. It went up and down from them, I just ate whatever I fancied just to keep some food down.
However I had a MC prior to DD so the morning sickness did make me feel a little reassured.
But then...DD was the most chilled easy-going baby, she's never had a tantrum, always happy, she's super bright and just an absolute bloody joy and she's 5 now..so it was all worth it!

Honestly this is normal. Nobody I know who struggled badly with sickness magically felt better at 12 weeks, I would think that's very rare!

I'm nearly 18 weeks and had HG and starting to feel a lot better in the last week or so. This is similar timescales to my two previous pregnancies (where I also had HG). I usually start to feel more like myself around week 20 and pretty much back to normal by week 24. Except by then I had started to get PGP in my second pregnancy...

ShadesofPoachedSmoke · 18/05/2024 19:27

I had awful nausea (not actually vomiting sick very much but feeling like on the edge about to be sick horrible feeling ALL the time) from 9-15 weeks. Then week 16 it eased and was all gone in a week.

Hang on in there!
