Hi

Looking for some opinions as a bit torn I had complications with my daughter although they were later on after 20 weeks not early

But 5 weeks pregnant again and feeling anxious as reading up on the sticky blood I have I booked an early scan at 6+2 for next week a private one it's 50 pounds but since the NHS have offered me one at 7 and a half weeks I really would like the reassurance as soon as possible but looked back on was 8 weeks with my daughter when paid for a private do you think I should cancel the private one and hold off for NHS early scan a week later?

I feel could be better to use the money for one between 8 and 13 weeks when waiting on next NHS and seen people say don't see much at 6 weeks

If I was in your position I'd wait for the NHS scan - there is a risk with a private scan so early that you don't see much and get anxious when there's no need. And like you say, that money might be better spent at a different point.

Yeah I would wait and save your money x

What are you hoping for from the early scan?

Wait, these private reassurance scans are almost always anything but. 6 weeks is the absolute earliest you can see anything, and even then its hard. It's really easy to be a few days out so you're often left panicking thinking they couldn't see anything or you were behind what you thought. And then you can't do anything, only thing you can do is wait and see. The only reputable private place near me won't even book you in unless you're 8 weeks plus for early reassurance scans.

Thanks ladies I suppose I am just paranoid that there will be no baby there so want to confirm but it does seem silly when only need to wait a week I also had a bit more anxiety if something was wrong getting told in hospital where it's a big less personal but I will have my husband with me and not sure why I am having these thoughts as have progressed pregnancy tests and having the odd symptoms I remember being anxious like this with my first I think I will text them to rearrange for later on in between the NHS scans xx

If you go at 6+2 you may well not see anything, or you might see a yolk sac, fetal pole and no heartbeat. Days make a huge difference in what you can see at that early stage, so if the dates are off even slightly it might send you into a blind panic!

I had a scan at 6 weeks due to a previous ectopic so it was only to check the placement. I didn't expect to see a heartbeat due to the timing and we didn't. All was fine!

If it isn't a vaginal scan then definitely cancel it, but I'd be inclined to cancel either way and wait till 7 weeks x
