Has anyone else had similar measurements? I’m freaking out, midwife didn’t say anything was wrong, didn’t read the report till I got home, called again and she just said she wasn’t worried. But now I’m worried about dwarfism

There's a calculator u can put the femur length in and it estimates the length of baby https://www.perinatology.com/calculators/Fetal%20length.htm

It says 42cm which I think is fine according to another app i have. They are maybe just a bit small but wouldn't think its anything to worry about.

Usually once it's not less than the 10th% in any of the measurements it's normal. Are you or baby's father particularly tall? Also, at a scan I had at 24 weeks the femur length come up quite small around the 10th% as well. Myself and my husband are tall enough so I questioned it. She went back and said 'I might have been a little mean there, let me try again.' Measured again 3 times and it came out as 72nd% 😳 Some difference! They're so squashed especially at your gestation it can be hard to get an accurate measurement

Femur is the hardest measurement due to the shape of the bone-I had similar at 28 weeks when my midwife referred me for a growth scan due to bump measuring behind. The growth scan showed femur was a week behind and the follow up scan at 32 weeks showed that the femur hasn’t grown at all since the previous scan. At that point as you can imagine I started majorly panicking and reading about iugr as the femur was now out of the chart completely.
However, the NHS algorithm takes all 3 main measurements into account so although the femur was behind with 4 weeks the overall percentile was 13%. The consultant which reviewed the results said that as long as on my 35 weeks scan we follow the same pattern and don’t drop below the 10th centile they are not worried. Fast forward and my 35 week scan showed that the femur has caught up a bit and it was not back to only about 2 weeks behind with my overall centile up from 13th to 32nd. I am now 37 weeks and waiting to meet my little boy and to be honest I am no longer worried about the femur.

My advice is not to worry too much and follow the advice of the doctors, if there is real iugr majority of the times it’s due to the placenta failing and they will monitor you and take baby out earlier if needed. Based on what I was told the tummy and head are the most important measurements and if those are okay it could be the femur was wrongly measured of just baby has shorted legs and long torso. Dwarfism would show other characteristics in addition to the short femur such as changes in the bones structure so don’t panic too much and all the best xx
