Hello this will be my 6th baby oldest 18 youngest 3.

I was on the implant when I feel pregnant with this little Miracle. Anyways I love my children dearly but I'm 33 now and I am done having baby's.

Im 21 weeks pregnant and have been thinking from the get go that I would like my tubes tied. As contraception clearly hasn't worked lol

Can I have a normal labour and then get it done or is it best to have a c section and just get it done then.

I've had one emergency c section before so I'm aware of recovery ect.

Anyone had rheee tubes tied could you give me some advice

Thanks x

No advice but I'm also following.
I'll be having my third section and am thinking about asking for my tubes to be tied as I am DONE 🤣

I don't think it's worth having a C section just for the purposes of having your tubes tied if you'd otherwise be having a vaginal birth. You can have it done less invasively at another time and it's less likely to fail - failure rates are a bit higher when it's done as part of a C section because everything is a bit swollen in there IIRC. Doing it as part of a C section is more of a "well, since we're in there anyway..." kind of thing, I think.

Also just throwing this out there - vasectomy is easier and more reliable than female sterilisation and the NHS doesn't like doing female sterilisation because it's both less reliable and less reversible than LARC like an IUD/IUS, so the NHS may well want you to try this before discussing female sterilisation, or if your relationship is stable your partner may find it easier and quicker to get a vasectomy than you will find to get sterilised.

@DreadPirateRobots thanks for all this info. I would rather avoid a c section so this information is good.

To be fair I've not even put it to my partner but will definitely be discussing this.

Im consultant lead anyways as previous births have all been small and prem ho spontaneous labours only one emergency c section.

X
