When would gestational diabetes be flagged if no symptoms

I'm currently 30 weeks pregnant and had a scan to check my placenta, they measured the baby and although they didn't say anything at the time he's measuring quite big, 74th percentile head and everything else over 90th percentile, abdominal over 95th.
I've not been tested for GD and tbh not had any of the usual symptoms of listed on the NHS website, maybe a bit thirstier than usual but nothing super out of the ordinary. Nothing has been flagged at my recent midwife appt. Shall I call them and tell them these measurements and ask to be tested or would the consultant who scanned me today have flagged this as a risk to follow up on if he was concerned?

When they do urine samples they are testing for it. Mine got picked up around 7 months by them doing this and then I had to go for further testing to confirm. I didn't have any symptoms.

I would have a chat with your midwife and ask. It may be something to consider if you are worried.

I have also asked myself this question too, especially as my baby’s stomach is on the 98% and very chunky, as well as being predicted 9-10ib at birth. My glucose tolerance test was ok, but the reading on the 2nd hour was higher than the first and getting close to the high cut off point.

Did you have a good reading for the glucose tolerance test?

@Silverfoxlady I haven't had any of the GD tests, it was mentioned in my booking in appointment that because a family member of my DH is diabetic I may get tested but this never happened. My midwife unit isn't entirely on the ball and I totally forgot about it until seeing these measurements and thinking if it's something I should look into.
I'll give them a ring and ask - thank you!

I got diagnosed with GD (really early on) with no real symptoms other than needing a wee in the middle of the night, which is hardly unusual for pregnant women anyway.

With those measurements, doing a GD test seems like an obvious, easy, thing to do just to be sure. It definitely wouldn't hurt to ask. They may have an alternative view and can explain it, which might reassure you at least.

I was tested for GD as my sister had it. She has polycystic ovaries and higher insulin resistance.
I had no symptoms whatsoever, no glucose in my urine etc.
my baby ended up being small for gestational age due to GD and the placenta not functioning as well as it should be.
I would urge you to be tested for it to be safe xx
