Dreaded Morning Sickness Advice

Hiya,

So, I am pregnant, about 6-7 weeks. Yay!

I now wake up every morning feeling good awful, boo! I'm not sick much, it's just the constant nausea feeling. And I get so hungry throughout the day and it leads to feeling sick very quickly.

I am a healthy weight 32 YO female, who exercises moderately.

I have been pregnant 3 times before but all ended in loss at 14 w, 16 w and 20 w for various sad non related reasons (with no medical issue with myself or my partner).
Everytime I have been pregnant I have eaten what I fancy, within reason (but never lots of unhealthy stuff). I have little and often like the books say, but it all just sticks to me and my face balloons.
I always put on so much weight so quickly, and I just don't want to do that again.

Can I have any healthy-ish snacks that have helped people in this position? I don't mind gaining weight during pregnancy as it can be lost, but as someone who has been through the pregnancy mill so to speak, i just don't want to battle unnecessary weight gain again!

I am so sorry for your losses 💐💐💐

I don’t think you’ve been necessarily doing anything wrong re previous weight gain in pregnancy, I honestly believe some women are just genetically predisposed to whacking on the pounds with a baby on board. I’m very similar to you and was utterly dismayed and gobsmacked to very quickly gain nearly 4 stone with each pregnancy. I ate my usual diet the entire time.

Avoid too much junk, limit sugar and keep active is all I can suggest. And of course as you said, you can definitely lose it after baby comes. Wishing you all the best x

@ThomussTank
Thank you 🙏🏼

Oh Christ I know! Some of us just smash those pounds on. I know I should embrace it, but feeling like death and getting fat are no fun really 😂😂
Will all be worth it in the end!!

Eat little and often
Keep hydrated
I found sucking on something salty like a pretzel or crisp kept nausea at bay temporarily.

Congratulations! I feel for you, I suffered badly with my daughter with morning sickness - like you mainly just nausea. I found ginger biscuits and sipping ginger tea/ale helped and snacking little and often through the day. I always had a packet of ginger nuts on standby!

If you end up really suffering the doctor can prescribe some anti sickness tablets.

Hey 👋 so sorry for your losses, your post doesn’t got into any detail about what your diet is like, but i generally just eat like i normally would, (obviously not the things we are not supposed to eat) the first weeks i suffer really bad with morning sickness So i actually tend to loose weight but i always put it back on once i can eat again lol i tend to gain more weight with my girls as i crave sweet things but its not a big deal, your face puffing up might just be water retention rather than you gaining weight, generally healthy snacks i eat are fruit, im fortunate to enjoy raw veg, carrot sticks, mangetout, broccoli stems etc, but really don’t worry about the weight gain, my baby is 4 months old and i am currently 2lb off my pre pregnancy weight, i genuinely believe breastfeeding has helped alot with dropping the weight so quickly this time (first time ive ebf) xx

Thank you all!
Just want to try and be as healthy as I can as I don't like eating rubbish as it makes you feel worse doesnt it.

Just feel so hungry and want beige things, and beige isn't healthy so I avoid. Been trying boiled eggs and veggie sticks.

My diet is healthy, very balanced, lots of veg, salads, no takeaways except treats etc.

I wish it was water retention 😂😂 deffo isn't!!

Ah well, hopefully this time getting chubby will be worth it!!

I always found Granny Smith apples helped settle my stomach.

Eat little and often. Getting too hungry won’t help the nausea.

Sip your drinks. I drank a lot of cold water, flat coke (not too much obvs cos of the caffeine), and Lucozade. I found really cold drinks much easier to drink than room temp or warm ones. Ice lollies can help you get water in, and give you something with a bit of flavour.

Beige and boring has been my lifesaver during morning sickness. TUC crackers, plain crisps, potato waffles, jacket potato etc. I’ve found plain and salty really helped me, but everyone is different. I was also able to eat plain chicken, and scrambled eggs on toast, and stuff like that.

However, I found that I had to avoid milk, yoghurt, cheese etc as dairy made me very sick.

I'm also 7 weeks and honestly I feel your pain. I've not been vomiting either but constantly feeling nauseous. I find drinking sparkling water is much better than still water, that makes me gag. I've been eating a ginger biscuit when I wake up and then trying to eat as normal as possible but it's really hard when I'm craving anything beige.

Ive had to go on anti-sickness tablets which take the edge off but it never fully goes and they do make me feel sleepy so its not ideal. In my last pregnancy the sickness only lasted until 9-10 weeks so im just praying for the next 2 weeks to hurry up 🤣
