How to wangle myself an early scan?

Hi!
Roughly 5/6 weeks pregnant - experienced a pretty traumatic miscarriage last year so I'm really keen to find out if this pregnancy is viable so I can prepare myself, either way.

Has anyone managed to get offered a scan esrlier than the usual 12ish week one?

Willing to bend the truth.

Thanks!

There's absolutely no need to lie, bend the truth or any other way you want to phrase it - just call the EPU (or equivalent - my hospital has an emergency gynae unit rather than an EPU) at your local hospital, explain you've had a previous loss and ask if they will offer you an early scan. Some will, some won't - the posters here stating categorically that "the NHS won't see you" are incorrect because there is no universal policy on early viability and reassurance scans. I had a first trimester loss last year and was explicitly told by the EGU to call them if I got pregnant again and they would scan me early - I got scans on the NHS at 7 and 9 weeks in this pregnancy. You won't know until you ask, and if they say no then book yourself a private scan around the 8 week point. Good luck.

Thanks for this! :-)
