Breech baby - turning it at 39 weeks - is this too late?

Saw mw last week, was 34 weeks. Baby is breech. She told me if its still breech, I will be sent to hospital at 39 weeks for a scan to confirm and they will try to turn it there.

Am starting to worry and think it should be scanned earlier and they should try and turn it earlier too, more like 37 weeks.

I don't want to go into labour before they try and turn it and end up having an emergency c/s which is more likely if they are leaving it until 39 weeks. Also, am panicking as is my 3rd baby and first two arrived fairly quickly, about 4 hours (DS1) then 3 hours (DS2)

What do you think? Not supposed to be seeing mw until 36 weeks but think I should try and see her this week, although trying to get an appt so late is virtually mission impossible.

My ds#5 was breech until 39 weeks, i thought my waters had broken and felt alot of shifting so went straight in to hospital. Turned out the baby had turned, he was a huge 9lb 2oz btw!

I was all for a natural breech birth and had become used to 'fighting off' the docs having had an elective section with twins first, failed home birth with dd next (i was pushing her HUGE head out for 4 hours, she came out fine in hosp though but with a 3rd degree tear)ds#3 was at home all fine, ds#4 at home but shoulder dystocia, ds#5 induced because i panicked he would be too big for me to get out if i left him in any longer. Of course it totally backfired and the induction meant he sat on my cervix with his head transverse and well and truly stuck. The reg managed to rotate him with the ventouse though.

If i hadnt had such a wait for the section (my section date was the day before he was due) then he would not have had a chance to turn himself. I was convinced he was stuck there as he felt huge and had been breech since i was 28 weeks.

My only advice is read as much as you can, dont be afraid to stand up to the Docs and midwives. It is a scary thought but chances are the baby will turn himself and you wont have to worry

Tangle i could have done with your story last May when all this was going on, good for you I am sure the midwife was so pleased to have witnessed it too. You clever lady!
