Pelvic girdle pain - absolute agony

I was diagnosed with PGP last week by an NHS Physio. I'd also seen a private one the same week.

I've only just started doing the exercises as they needed an exercise ball but OMG I am in such pain i don't know what to do with myself. The last two nights I've had 3hrs of broken sleep, max. I spent large portions of yesterday evening just crying.

I'm wearing a serola strap in the evenings which helps while it's on. Switching between heat and ice pads for the pain. Taking strong (prescribed) pain killers. Doing all the things for getting in and out of bed, sleeping with pillow between knees etc.

Has anyone got any advice? I'm only 6 months!

Physio has not worked for me but a chiropractor has. It's all lines to your pelvis being misaligned and honestly after 3 treatments I felt like a new woman. Has to pay private but worth every penny of you can manage it. Just ensure they are qualified to treat pregnant women. I also found the yoga ball made me worse so just be mindful it might not be what your body needs. Sending love it's horrible 😩😩😩😩

I'm really sorry you're going through this. There is a wonderful charity called Pelvic Partnership who can help you. They have a lot of information on their website and a helpline.

Thank you. I've had pelvic pain for 25 years and was used to what made things better or worse. Whereas now I have no clear idea!

I'll have a look for chiropractors - I definitely have a bit of a twist in my lower back and the pain is worse on one side which made me wonder about alignment.

Thanks, I'd have never have thought of a chiropractor

It doesn't matter if they're a chiropractor, osteopath or physio as the manual therapy treatment should be the same. However the first profession out of that list is not as well regulated as the others. PP have a list of recommended practitioners.

Sending sympathy. It’s been a long time since I was pregnant but the pain was so bad I’ll never forget it. I never felt pain that bad. I could only sleep with hypnotherapy CD playing. It wasn’t as bad in the second pregnancy.
