After a difficult second birth (with a big boy 9lbs) I'm now 38+5 and totally terrified of birth this time.

I was told I could have her early (38 weeks) but because so far she hasn't measured very big they want to leave her in.

New plan is for sweeps at 39 weeks (this week) and then induction at 40.

I just want a positive birth experience and all im hearing is bad things about induction which doesn't sound like the positive experience I want to end having babies on!

But am also TERRIFIED of going waaay over and her growing very big like her brother!

First baby 40+4
Second baby 40+6

If I leave nature to take it's course are we talking 40+8++++??

Scared mum 😭

I think if baby isn't measuring huge then the longer you leave it, the more ready your cervix will be for Labour and the more likely an induction will be successful.
Have you tried ante-natal expressing?
That can encourage labour to come on naturally.

You've got this OP, the end is in sight and you get to meet your little one soon!

My little boy wasn't measuring huge bad scans for a 5lbs baby but he still came out 9lbs and i think that's my biggest fear!

All she is doing is growing now 😭

I had an induction at 40+5, for different reasons, and it was the last thing I wanted (wanted homebirth like my first) but I must have been ready as it really wasn't that bad and I honestly look back on it as a positive experience. It may not be ideal and fingers crossed it's not needed but from what I learnt the bad induction experiences are generally early term when the body isn't ready. Also you aren't a FTM so that's also on your side. Really hope you get the birth experience you want but know that if you do decide to have an induction you still have options and it's totally possible to have a good experience 😁
