Would you take the early induction at 39 weeks or take your chances for spontaneous labour and think the measurement can be wrong by up to 20 percent either way?
3rd pregnancy, 2 normal sized babies before both induced at 41 weeks.

I would take the spont labour. Have a listen to the Midwives Rebellion podcast...they have an episode on big babies. They present a lot of research

Sorry, its the 'great birth rebellion'. Here's the link

Obviously you have to take the medical advice you are getting but i think these scans are so inaccurate I'm not sure I'd make different plans on the basis of them in future. They told me Dc1 was small, she came out at 8lb something. Dc2 was supposedly very large... cue weekly scans, stress, and a planned csection due to risks, shoulder dystocia etc.... he was 7lb 3 and perfectly normal. Practically everyone i know had a prenatal measurement that was waaaay off.

I'd probably take an induction but more like 39+5 or 39+6 when your body might be more responsive to it/more ready naturally for labour

I would take my chances, especially with you already having 2 average sized babies before. Unless the babies health is at risk, I personally would avoid induction at all costs. My best friend got told her baby would weigh 9.5lb from her last scan, she refused induction offers twice, spontaneous labour at 40+2 and he was 7lb7

I'd take the measurements with a pinch of salt. Dsis had a scan with more booked as baby was small expected to be less than five pounds. Earlier two were over 8 pounds. She delivered following day en route to hospital dn was 9lb 12oz. Admittedly dsis's bump was tiny so no idea where he was hiding.

Thanks so far for all your responses. I definitely take the measurements with a pinch of salt. Although I do know a couple of people whose babies have been measuring big and then born big at term after inductions or c section. Would be nice to experience spontaneous labour this time as first two were induced for different reasons. But also don't want ro end up with emergency c section foe a giant baby getting stuck

You could ask for another scan in a couple of weeks. I had growth scans and one went up to the 90th and the next was back down to the 50th. I’d wait.
